Yea looks like tomorrow line up

Still interesting that Jiricek and Carbonneau are present again, really making an impression. Could Jiricek take Kessels spot? Could happen but seems very unlikely and not really necessary at this point. I could certainly see him going to Springfield though. Carbonneau in vs Texier, this is a big opportunity for Carbonneau to steal the reigns hopefully vs a more veteran Hawks line up if thats possible.

Just based off his interviews, I get the feeling Army likes Texier or at least wants to see him get a longer look. Always seems to bring up his name and he really hasn’t gotten an opportunity here yet.

I honestly think Tex is the better player and a better option at 3RW. That said Joseph can kill penalties and I think that goes a long way with Monty

Would love to see Carbo push someone out, but it’s pretty crowded already. If he can get on the board again tomorrow night it’s going to go a long way. Says a lot that hes likely playing again tomorrow

While this could be a preview of tomorrow nights lines it could also be Group B that plays tomorrow. Or a combo of Group A and Group B.

Anyone able to go to practice? I’d be more interested in how the players looked than exactly which ones get into the next practice game.

Texier is too damned timid. There was that 2-3 game dtrwtch early last season when ne looked goddanged dominant- driving play, winning almost every puck battle and playing like an All-Star. Then....

You are correct, especially the bolded. When Army waived Saad (a turning point among several turning points last season), his main reason was "to get Texier in the lineup". Texier played avereage- perhaps that pressure was more than he could handle (gulp) and they replaced him on the second line with Holloway. THAT was the final link in the chain and the near upset of the Presidents Trophy winners.

That was not the case last year, at all. See the above post about when Saad was waived.
It might be true now, but Texier has skills- when he feels confident enough to put them on display.

I’m partial to Joseph so glad he’s looking good thus far. He brings speed, penalty killing and some of the things you won’t get from the skill guys. He can score a little bit as well.

Joseph can do a lot of things with his effort but struggles to finish chances that the team needs a higher rate of successful finish to justify him playing regularly

My biggest takeaway from these lines is that Snuggerud practiced. I hadn't heard anything since he got hurt.

dont get me wrong i like texier, I just like the idea of carboneau on the third or dvorsky over him and joseph. Texier had all the chance in the world and just wasnt great. Carbonneau is physical and we neeed that.

Exactly well said. He has high motor, works hard but very limited puck skills. Id take him over Texier from what i have seen but i dont think the Blues need to carry both

There is a term for that type of player - enigma.

Texier is running out of runway. If he does make the team he'll have to produce to hold his spot. Noting, of course, Army needs his salary on the opening roster for LTIR purposes.

Of the young guys in the 1st session today ... again it was Jiricek and Mailloux who were most impressive. I don't think there is any chance that Jiricek challenges for Kessel's spot this year (response to a different post), but he definitely keeps displaying top 4 NHL dman potential in time. He's really good. In the 2nd session the line of Stancl/Alexandrov/Stenberg had a very good practice ... all 3 of them individually and as a line looked good.
Of the vets a noteworthy good practice in my opinion came from Bjugstad. Not a lot of offense but similar contribution as Faksa just looks completely different doing it. He's still being used exclusively at center from what I've seen for you line predictors.

BTW, before practice Lucic warmed up the goalies with wrist shots. Only the goalie coach Binner and Cranley were out there. Unfortunately, after one of his wrist shots, I heardn an audible groan of pain from ML. He skated it off as best he could and continued, but he did not participate in either practice.

Another thing, Schenn and Walker worked with Dvorsky after practice on a couple drills around the crease.
Last guys to stop working on stuff and last to leave the ice after session 2 ... Hofer, Stancl, Susuev, Kessel and Holloway.
