multi-year rebuild

Post by earp »

This aligns with the team's historical preference for retooling rather than tearing down. While trades and roster changes are likely
?
Former Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright offered a quote that reflects a different sentiment:

“The Cardinals have never been a full rebuild team. That would be a bad thing for St. Louis because we don't really have the patience for a five-year rebuild..

STL CARDS-LOST IN SPACE FOR 5 YEARS- (pulse what the hell we have been going thru!)

Hasn't Adam heard of the saying 'There's always a 1st time for everything ' ... Secondly , I would say to Adam 'whatever it takes to have a winning playoff type team is what it will take .. 3 years, 4 , 5 etc. thirdly , I would say stop using terms like .. full rebuild .. what is that ? is there a 'half rebuild' ?a 'partial rebuild' ? stop with the terms and semantics. The word 'REBUILD' in some baseball circles is a a curse word . So teams use 'retool
tweak ' 'refresh' , etc. to avoid the dreaded REBUILD word. Just game playing with semantics. Fans aren't fooled . They know there needs to be many changes. So let the changes begin.

I would argue that the offseason between 1980 and 1981 was a rebuild. Herzog completed a massive overhaul in one winter.

Johnny bow ties has never attempted a rebuild because he didn't know how to properly conduct one. He half-[ashed] every task. Low effort and ridiculous trades and free agent signings. A competent front office would've kept this organization in contention year after year.
