How are 3rd wild card tie breakers determined?

Post by hmoss859 »

If the following teams finish tied at 82-80 or 81-81 who gets the final wild card

Cards
Mets
Reds
Dbacks
Marlins

Not one team won tiebreakers against all teams

Is it division record?

Upon further research, the only way in for Cardinals is to finish 82-80 and finish tied with Mets and Reds.

Reds hold tiebreaker over Mets, Cards own tiebreaker over Reds.

It then goes to division record.

Card would finish 27-25
Reds 25-27
Mets 24-28

If Dbacks get to 82 wins, they would get in, based on division record 28-24

3rd wild card tie breakers- Cards not officially dead

Post by hmoss859 »

Infinitestimal odds but If multiple teams finish 81-81, it would require

Mets 0-4
Reds 1-3
Dbacks 1-3
Marlins 3-1 sweep Mets
Cards 3-0

Nobody owns all tie breakers, so next is division record

Divisions record next, all others are 500 or below

Cards 27-25
Dbacks 27-25

Intraleague record next

Cards 59-55
Dbacks 56-58
