The Athletic Torey Krug
A great article on Torey Krug, the injury, and just Krug as a person. That surgery seems like an awful thing to go through. It is really nice to see when these guys retire how well they speak of Doug Armstrong, the team, and just how great of a team culture the Blues have.

Didn't get to read the article since it is behind a paywall. What's it got in there? I think the best thing the Blues did was onboard Steen. He might not be the same caliber of GM that Army is, but you know that the culture will be a priority which is hard to replicate for a market like STL.dr0zombie wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 10:05 am A great article on Torey Krug, the injury, and just Krug as a person. That's why I hardly take any of the talk by some that our front office has a terrible reputation.dr0zombie wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 10:05 am A great article on Torey Krug, the injury, and just Krug as a person. The players who brag about playing here, especially with Army at the helm, far outweigh the ones who complain.
Even in this situation where Army tried to trade him twice Krug still has a lot of good things to say about him and the organization.
I think it also speaks very highly of the kind of character Torey Krug has as well. He could have easily trashed us, or just spoke very poorly, and didn't.
Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
Fantastic article, thanks for sharing! One thing many forget as they go about bashing a player, these guys are just as human as the rest of us. And in many cases, better humans than those we encounter personally or even in a hockey forum. All the best to Torey and his family, and thank you Torey for giving everything to the Blues!

Good article. Not a Krug fan, at all, but hope he heals up and is able to live a normal life filled with plenty of playtime with his kids.

Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
I think this is all fabrication by Krug and Blues. It wasn’t working out and everyone knew that. Was obvious
Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
Right, a fabrication. That’s why he chooses to end his career -playing the game he loves-, without having the chance to have his kids see him play (for any NHL team…) and obviously JR is into all of this.

Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
And he had a brutally painful surgery to keep up the ruse as well!

He lost his love like ROR. It’s all a big sham imo

Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
fwiw my read on this tangent he theo is aware of the painful surgery and is joking because there have proven to be some shenanigans around the league ... I mean Doug lucked out because the GOAT GM did contract himself into paying Krug millions this year and next and thus fate saved some of what was basically an indefensible signing. I think the convenience of this led to a joke, but nobody thinks Krug faked painful ankle surgery
Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
Yeah you don’t know what you’re talking about. Krug’s surgeon is a 2nd cousin of the guy who did Stone’s 2 back “surgeries.”seattleblue wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 14:32 pm fwiw my read on this tangent he theo is aware of the painful surgery and is joking because there have proven to be some shenanigans around the league ... I’m sick of it all. The NHL is a joke. Nobody is buying it.
Re: The Athletic Torey Krug
Or like Alex Pietrangelo, these guys are playing at the limits of what humans should be enduring for over a decade of intense physical training and competition. That kind of constant use and abuse of the human body has tolls on the long term functionality of an individual. And we should respect the players for their competitive abilities and their careers.theograce wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 14:45 pmYeah you don’t know what you’re talking about.
