4 games remaining and still not eliminated
The mathematical odds of the Cardinals gaining a wildcard spot are VERY slim. While most Cardinal fans have been displeased with the season performance, one thing that can be said for the 2025 Cardinals is that they weren't quitters. The Cardinals won 2 of 3 from the Brewers and then have given the Giants two losses thus winning 4 of their last 5 .
Last night's game , trailing 8-3 and then making a big comebackto win 9-8 was one of the better games I have enjoyed this year . Hoping they can play some good games vs. the Cubs as the Cubbies are holding on by a thread to get the top wildcard spot.

They have been dead men walking for years.
Re: 4 games remaining and still not eliminated
I do applaud Oli for the last couple years of leading the team below .500 and dropping out of race.and then at the very end of season knocking off some worthless wins so everyone then says “They’re a .500 team”
Awesome

The sad thing is that a few changes here and there and the Cardinals could have made the playoffs. They wouldn't have won the World Series but I am sure that the fan base would have been excited. I bet Mo will regret not going for the playoffs in his final year.

Time to give him a lifetime contract. He'll find another Fedde to throw away games with every year.
On a side note: think where they might be right now if anyone but Fedde made Eric's starts.
Re: 4 games remaining and still not eliminated
Correct.
And do not forget that on July 1 of the past 2 seasons, the team was in control of a playoff spot before completley flailing down the stretch.
You are right - The Marmot is the master of the meaningless.
The team was eliminated the day it was decided that he would return for 2025.

And the little munchkin will undoubtedly have his pressers through the end of season lauding how his team is just fighting to the end……Melville wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 09:40 amCorrect.

As we remember his “destroy the season” managing stent where against the Cubbies in back to back series the moron aligned his SP rotation with Gray throwing ONE game while Fedde and Miles had 4 starts……

Little Oli just needs
4-0 finish by Cards
2-3 by Reds
1-4 by Mets
1-4 by Dbacks
Easy Peazy

And to think they will probably adding another wild card there will be some garbage teams making the post season

I subscribe to the 60/60 theory. You will win 60 and lose 60 regardless of the manager.
So, out of the 42, how many losses was an Oli move complicit in? Conversely, how many of the 42 did an Oli move help us win?
I honestly can’t think of one of the latter, but I can think of at least 7-8 of the losses.
He’s got to go.

Re: 4 games remaining and still not eliminated
Precisely. I don't see this as some sort of moral victory but rather the opposite. It would have taken very, VERY little in correct decision-making making both from the FO in 40-man decisions and Olitard in roster creation and this team could easily be 5 games up on the final WC and this entire season would have a different outlook. Fan attendance would likely be drastically higher, team morale could actually be focused on winning and building a winning culture, and the young players could get some valuable playoff experience with confidence-building, and the future, rather than looking like a total rebuild, could inspire confidence.KeeptheRamsinSTL wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 09:03 am The sad thing is that a few changes here and there and the Cardinals could have made the playoffs. So rather than be a Monday morning QB or armchair GM I'll go ahead and lay out those decisions:
-DFA Fedde and bring up McG a month sooner: minimum 3 game swing
-Send Pallante to the BP, spot start with promoted Matthews and/or Leahy, Steven Matz. As Pallante's been a negative WAR player, all that's needed is replacement level for a 2 game swing
-Either eat Walker's last option by sending him down or use him sparingly. Anyone with eyes can see he's simply not capable or ready for MLB pitching at this time: 2 game swing. He's basically taken the rope they handed him and hung himself with it.
Those 3 incredibly simple, obvious, and easy-to-make moves that fans have been screaming for months before they happened and this entire season has a different outlook, and in all likelihood as winning and hitting are contangious, the future would like brighter for individuals as well.
But nope, Mo's and idiot, Oli's an arrogant self-righteous (buzz) when it comes to managing, and they can both go sit on it and spin.

Nevertheless, remarkable we are not eliminated.
It would take divine intervention, however, and I am guessing God is saving it for a more worthy team.
