Burleson might be OK as a #3 hitter for the next few seasons
If he continues to improve his slug. It's such an vital spot in the batting order. By all accounts, Wetherholt will be as a fine table setter. Depending on what the Cardinals decide on Contreras, The Cardinals still need another "big bat" at 4 or 5 behind Burly at #3. Maybe even with Burleson, Herrera and Contreras. They were probably hoping that would be Gorman and/or Walker. The jury is still out on that.

Fair point. I'd rather a lineup with Burleson batting 5th or 6th.Shady wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:09 pmSo what?imadangman wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:04 pm It sure is an vital spot in the batting order, you've got that correct...

That would be very good for the offense. However, better get another more productive hitter than him for that to happen.imadangman wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:12 pmFair point. I just hope Burleson builds on his strong 2025
in 2026.
Then we’ll worry about batting order.

You are incredibly repetitive and annoying, that's what.Shady wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:09 pmSo what?imadangman wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:04 pm It sure is an vital spot in the batting order, you've got that correct...

I. Hererra is obviously the correct #3 hitter given he's the only player in the organization w/30-35 HR power and should be in the prime RBI spot w/WillyC behind him if he's still here.
Burleson could hit 2nd or 5th vs RHP but has to sit vs LHP.

He's hitting .267 against lefties, Donovan .232, and you want to sit Burly?rockondlouie wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 08:54 am I. A platoon player without a position, no power, who somehow has built some value with his hit tool. Bloom is smart. BuhByeBurly!rockondlouie wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 08:54 am I. Moving forward it’s safe to project Burly to hit about 20 homers with a .280 plus average and an OPS around .800. Good hitter. Still not a middle of the order hitter, though. Not on a playoff caliber team anyway.

Let me finish his slash line vs LHP this season for you LR: .267.301 .388 .689.
So you're looking at one season and 124 PA's vs his career (298 PA: .233 .268 .330 .598) vs LHP?
But that is an improvement over his career, I'll give you that.
BTW, what does this have to do w/Donny?

100% you sit Burly vs LHP unless you like giving away PA's.
