1M less fans than 2023 at an average ticket price of $90. $90M less in ticket revenue alone?

What if the front office had even tried this year? Could've easily been a wildcard team and fans wouldn't have been so frustrated. Seems so odd as a business decision.

Indeed. Sort of like when the brewery lost interest. They are investing in fixing the development system, so they say. The off season will be telling...

They failed to supplement the team when they had a playoff shot for years……then they just gave up completely…..this starts at ownership and cascaded down

I was not that interested in this team this year and wouldn’t have been if they had tried to skimp into the playoffs again. What I would have been interested in is if during the offseason they had traded some of the young redundant players and traded some of the veterans that were not going to be around after the 2026 season. I would have been more interested in a true rebuild. The front office has done nothing to show that they want to make a top team that can win thier division and be a threat to go deep into the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the business decision. Surely, they didn't expect even close to 3M in attendance based on the direction they took in the offseason. Just purely from a revenue standpoint, they could/should have invested at least $30M in the major league club to keep attendance up and would've actually had a significantly higher operating revenue than the did without spending on the big league team.

There is no “ logical” explanation for the way they’ve done things during this season, or leading up to it.

Nobody has used the words Mozeliak and try in the same sentence in years. Such a low effort lazy (donkey).

jUST shooting for a team that will squeeze into the playoff is folly. The big market teams will kill you. it will take a couple of years, but build a team that is actually a WS contender. Sneaking into the 3rd play off spot and being bounced does not make a good plan.

You wanted Mo re-arranging the roster and trading assets?

^This.

This logic of trying to annually be just good enough to sneak into the playoffs is what ultimately landed them in the position they are in. It kept them from trading veteran players when they should have to restock their minor league system, etc.

Cardinals have had redundant assets for many years that they wait until they have no value and now they have to many young players and needed to trade some of the redundant ones for other young players. Starting pitching is not good. Mo shouldn't have been there this year. They should have got rid of him after last year and had Chaim making decisions
