I wish you get more than 2 calls a game if your are correct each time
Maybe like the other challenge
If correct you keep your challenge

Not a fan but the best part of this is going to be when a player feels like he got a bad call against him and he blows a challenge for his team.

Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
Matt carpenter would have blown both challenges in his first at bat
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
he would've been correct...99% of the time...he knew the zone. Thus, the challenges would still exist. "Blown" suggest he would've been wrong....Highly unlikelyOzziesfan41 wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 16:44 pm Matt carpenter would have blown both challenges in his first at bat

Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
I’ve seen a lot of at bats where he complains about strikes that were strikes 99% no way even 50% is being way too generous it was aggravating watching him complaining about strikescraviduce wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 16:47 pmhe would've been correct...99% of the time...he knew the zone. Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
They need to expand it to just about everything bad umpiring should not determine the outcomes of games
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
No more called strikes two inches off the plate? The game is doomed.
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
the best part about ABS : Everyone gets their own personal strikezone, which they're fitted for in Spring Training.
This "should" help Jordan Walker, especially on low strikes below his knees....He just needs to be incredibly selective going forward and not swing at that pitch.
Anyways, it should help Jordan not start every count 0-2

You are not limited to 2 challenges per game.
Just be right
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
They used this in Memphis in the two games I went to this summer. It was very seamless and quick—coolest part is that they immediately showed the image on the scoreboard and the home plate umpire confirmed with hand signals.
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
I believe this is a good idea.
Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
as Miles Mikolas said on pregame show interview tonight, it will probably come in play mostly in 8th and 9 th innings where a team has runners on base .
I agree .. managers will tell players not to use the challenge willy nilly . In the 3rd inning, with nobody on base two outs , a batter should not be calling for a review.
However, if the game is tied or you are trailing , bottom of the 8 bases loaded 2 outs , 3-2 count and batter takes a borderline pitch and ump calls it Strike 3 .. 3 outs to end the inning of course you want to challenge that for if overturned to a walk, a run scores and next batter up .
BTW it will only take 15 seconds for the ball /strike call to be reviewed as we saw in spring training this year.
The system puts up the batters box on the big scoreboard with the round ball and it shows whether strike or ball. real quick
nothing like the other replays that go back to NY studios

Re: ABS Challenge System coming in 26
a PS ... as you know the batter, catcher, and pitcher are the only 3 players to ask for a challenge.
NO help from the dugout or other players on the field is allowed . That's important as Oli cannot holler out 'challenge it or any other coach
If that would happen, I suppose the umpire would nullify the batter getting the review .
of course any correct challenges you retain the challenge
Also in each extra inning , a team will be awarded ONE challenge if it has none remaining entering the inning.
Maybe it will bring back some guy in the tunnel banging on a trash can if they think the call was missed .
As murdered St. Louis rock singer Walter Scott sang years ago (Bob Cuban and the In Men group ) Look out for the Cheaters !

Keep the home plate umpire for foul tips and hit by pitch. Zero need for umpire to call balls and strikes.Pura Vida wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 15:41 pmIt would seem this is the first stage in converting to 100% robotic. They can keep the umpire for foul tips and things like that. When the current agreement ends this should be taken care of along with no DH.craviduce wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 14:59 pmthey couldn't get 2 Labor Unions and the Owners to decide on one strike zone....the depth, shape, etc....also one of those unions was going to vote against it anyways : Umpire Union.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 13:15 pm The downside is they should have gone to 100% robot umpire for balls and strikes.
