You're right. This team looks solid as long as the top 4 defensemen and RT stay healthy.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 14:47 pm a Schenn led 3rd line would be the best thing that has happened to this org in 3 years. If that guy is 3rd line, we are in good shape. I don't know anyone that would be psyched to see neighbours and schenn lining up when you are supposed to be "taking a break."

A third line of Neighbours-Schenn-Carbonneau would be VERY interesting. I still think Carbo goes back to Jr, but we'll see.

Jiricek is AHL eligible because he was drafted out of Czechia. The Under-20 agreement between the NHL and CHL only applies to players drafted from a CHL team. Since Jiricek joined a CHL team after being drafted, it doesn’t apply to him.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 14:26 pmthis year he he cannot goto the AHL, next season each NHL team is allowed one NA 19 yr old i believe. You’re correct about Carbonneau and the AHL this season. It’s either the Q or NHL for him. But I’ll note that this season is his 19 yr old season even though as of today he’s still 18. It goes based on birth year and since he turns 19 yet this year, he’ll be AHL eligible next season regardless of that new rule allowing NHL teams 1 19 yr old in the AHL.* He’s on the younger side of his birth year but older side of this last draft class.
*the CHL hasn’t even agreed to this change yet. It’s still just a proposal the NHL is pushing for.

That's quite silly, he has a long way to go. These are hype men. He made some significant mistakes this weekend showing he is not ready. But he did look bettersneptsmoustache wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 12:55 pm Kerbs and Joey were absolutely raving about his play this weekend, but I didn't watch the games.

I see Dvo starting the season in Springfield, but getting called up on December 1st. I also see Carboneau and Jiricek starting the season with the Blues. Andy Strickland stated the Blues veterans are gushing about Jiricek. I imagine he will be handled similar to Petro when he came up.

That would be an insane leap from how he was playing just a few months ago in junior, to the NHL. He wasn't even on his team's top pairing.
I'm not against that everyone is impressed with his play btw. That's good news

Jiricek has absolutely risen from the (injury) ashes. He is stacking good showings on top of each other this camp. But no, I do not think he makes this team this year even for 9 games. It's just an opinion. Carbonneau neither. Just an opinion.

I’d send both back to junior and wouldn’t hesitate. Let them turn pro next year. Jiricek needs to prove he can stay healthy. Won’t hurt his development to play a full year of junior and get stronger.b-a-a-a-rclay wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 16:52 pm Jiricek has absolutely risen from the (injury) ashes. I’d like to see Texier and Joesph make the team and have strong years. Maybe move one or both at the deadline if others are ready to be called up.

Suter being able to gel with Holloway/Kyrou would be a big boost to the formation of the lines.

Great discussion fellas.
Army at the presser mentioned that he spoke w/ Jiricek's agent prior to camp.
Army said his agent made a good point about Jiricek playing for so many different teams the last few years that some stability would be beneficial.
I am happy to see his progress. I caught a few of his games last season and I didn't walk away too impressed, you could see the raw talent and pieces to the puzzle.
Count me on board to see him return to juniors, play 25 minutes a night, stay healthy and have a heckuva WJC.

Re: Texier
He had some jump in the Blue Jackets game but that game lacked NHL talent. I was hoping he would have been the best player on the ice.

I wasn't impressed with JIricek at last year's camp. Now I see a totally different prospect. He was still coming back from the knee and he was skinny and since he hadn't played much, it is now evident that he was rusty. Well it's obvious that he feels good now. He's bigger, stronger, skilled, mobile and confident. He looks like he's on a path to being a really good top 4 RHD. He's slick on defense but also not afraid to use his body. It's exciting to see such a different player this summer.Boomac wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 18:37 pm Great discussion fellas.

Can Jiricek move to the AHL mid-season? Or is it one or the other for him once the season starts?STL fan in MN wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 15:19 pmJiricek is AHL eligible because he was drafted out of Czechia. You can't imagine how the speed of the NHL will translate when those guys go back to juniors. We need to give them some meaningful NHL minutes this year, then send them back. They are both eligible for the WJC this Christmas. Army likes our guys getting exposure in that tournament.

Once he’s assigned to the OHL, he’s assigned there for the season. The opposite is doable though. He could start in the AHL and then the Blues would still have the option to send him to his Jr team mid-season.somni wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 19:50 pmCan Jiricek move to the AHL mid-season? Why do we need to give them that? Why should we risk losing vets on waivers to temporarily play teenagers that clearly aren’t fully NHL ready yet?hockey jedi wrote: ↑23 Sep 2025 20:10 pm You can't imagine how the speed of the NHL will translate when those guys go back to juniors. The Blues are pretty clearly trying to win this season. They’re not going to keep and play teenagers unless they’re actually the better alternative and the plan is for them to stay. I see the odds of that happening to be very very low.
