...Really nice game for the Cards, especially on the road to west coast with no day off in between. They had good starting and relief pitching, and enough extra-base hitting to squeak out the win. Do it again tomorrow night and they'll win the series...

Giants did not get Verlander off the hook. :D

McG and Libby each with 8 wins. :D

HUGE LOSS for the Giants.

Don't look now but Cardinals have won 3 of their last 4 games .. . and vs. Brewers and now Giants
Some may say big deal they are out of the running but one thing it does show , this team has NOT QUIT . They are playing hard to the bitter end and that is good quality . Now you can give credit for that to whoever but these guys have pride .

...I liked the "old" Giants, before they moved west and early afterwards... They had Willie Mays, and Willie McCovey and Juan Marichal (after they were the SF Giants), Sal "the barber" Maglie, Orlando Cepeda, and a few other stars. Gaylord Perry was a great HOF pitcher also. The only players I didn't care for was Bonds, and "one-flap" down, Jeffery Leonard...

Those matchups between Bob Gibson and Juan Marichal were classics...both destined for the HOF. According to CoPilot AI...
"Bob Gibson and Juan Marichal faced each other as starting pitchers in 11 games during their Hall of Fame careers. These matchups occurred between 1960 and 1973, when Gibson pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals and Marichal for the San Francisco Giants.
🔥 Head-to-Head Breakdown
• Gibson vs. Marichal as opposing starters: 11 games
• Gibson’s record in those games: 6 wins, 5 losses
• Marichal’s record in those games: 5 wins, 6 losses
These duels were often tightly contested, featuring low scores and dominant pitching performances. Their first meeting was on August 16, 1960, when Marichal, a rookie, outdueled Gibson in a 5–2 Giants victory."

Final thoughts from the game…
Fermin belongs. One of the few still paying attention and producing. I think there is a role for him in 2026. The only pleasant surprise for me in a down year.
McGreevy did not wilt. Obviously needs to work on control, but he could have melted and didn’t. He too belongs.
Arenado is gone, figuratively and literally. He has checked out.
Noot looks like he knows he is in the way out. But then, he has been laying like that all of 2025.
Walker. He of my great hopes, the redemption of losing Taveras, our solid power hitter of the future. Hapless. Lost. Dancing with Mendoza. Tragic, really. I hope a new start gives him another chance. But I don’t think it’s here.

This upcoming offseason will be one of the most anticipated to me in recent memory.
Three straight non playoff seasons.
Numerous player needs to address.
And...a new regime taking over!
Wow

Where they begin will be so interesting as every move creates a domino affect.
Honestly.... I could see them doing a lot at one extreme or very little( riding with youth and building from within?) at the other.
Buckle up!

Agreed. My guess is the first Bloom PC opens some eyes.

Arenado of course will be a hot topic.
Obviously constructing the rotation.
Who else gets weeded out? Traded?
Then there will be talk about Oli. I am not an Oli fan and I believe we can certainly do better.
But...with all Bloom has on his plate combined with having to “ease in” it may be wise on his part to wait on addressing the Manager/Staff?
For me? I hope they have viable replacement(s) in mind.
We shall see.

My guess is that it will be totally insignificant, and cards talk will whine like a toddler.
That may open some eyes?
