OT: OU cheating vs Auburn...

Post by JackBolly »

...The SEC confirmed that OU clearly ran an illegal play that resulted in a TD as the receiver was wide open :

“NCAA football rule 9-2, Article 2 is labeled ‘unfair tactics’ with Paragraph (B) stating, ‘No simulated replacements or substitutions may be used to confuse opponents. No tactic associated with substitutes or the substitution process may be used to confuse opponents. This includes any hideout tactic with or without a substitution.’

The officials blew it and Auburn lost the game by a TD. Not sure why this wasn't reviewable - seems most things are now.

So you may ask 'Why doesn't everyone try what OU did'? Because its in the rule book as clear cheating. Says a LOT about the character of OU football - We'll cheat and see if they dare catch us.

Yeah that was an Auburn win, albeit a very close good game.

Although my personal opinion is that should not be illegal and defenses should have to be aware and account for all 11 players on the other team.

OU HC appears to have told a bald face lie when confronted with the cheating, throwing the Refs under the bus. Whoa!

Add two to three non-calls on defensive PI - one where the ref was at a position trying to get out of the way of the receiver, but that meant he was out a position to make the call

I think all unsportsmanlike conduct or personal foul calls (or non-calls) should be reviewable, assuming a team has challenges remaining.
