I love the Oz , but Hornsby has to be one of the 4.

What 3 hitters and 1 pitcher from the other teams rival that?
Bonds, Mays, Ott, and Mathewson certainly rivals it. Not sure it's better but it's certainly close enough to be discussed.

Red Sox have Williams, Yaz, and then the first part of Tris Spraker's career. On the pitching side they have Cy Young, Clemens, Pedro, and Lefty Grove.

Dodgers don't have the hitters to rival the Cardinals, Yankees don't have the standout pitcher unless you count Clemens' partial career there, or Rivera.

No other team comes to mind.
Braves: Aaron, Mathews, Chipper, Spahn.
A's: Foxx, Simmons, Henderson, Grove.
Tigers: Cobb, Gehringer, Kaline, Verlander.
Good additions, especially the Braves. I always forget how great Chipper was.

Interesting Mt Rushmores suggestions for other teams mentioned. Great players, indeed.

hornsby- one of the greatest hitters ever, but did not play a good portion of his career here
Hornsby was drafted by and played 13 seasons as a Cardinal (.359 .427 .568 .995).

By far his longest stint w/one team during his 23 year career (5 yrs w/the Browns, 4 yrs w/the Cubs and one yr each w/New York and Boston).

100% on the Cardinals Mt. Rushmore.
shouldn't his 5 years with the Browns count for "playing for St Louis"?

Don't look at the Yankees. Ruth, Mantle, Gehrig, Maris, A-rod, Judge. Gibson is better (IMO) than any Yankee pitcher but the case for Mariano Rivera could be made I guess. Whitey Ford? And Jeter/Ozzie would be a debate.

And you forgot DiMaggio, yogi, pettitte, Bernie Williams, and Reggie Jackson
Ruth mantle Gehrig ford.
you're comparing Ford with Gibby? But when you think about it, the only great pitcher the Yankees ever had was Rivera

While reading the great comments I remembered the streak Hornsby compiled from 1921 to 1925 with the Cards:
AB’s- 2679
Hits- 1078
Avg.- .402
HR’s- 144
RBI’s- 598

He did strike out 198 times over those 5 years though!
Insane 😳

The misinformation on this forum is ridiculous. We’ve heard Joc Peterson is cheap (2 years, $37 million current contract) and Hornsby had a cup of coffee in StL during the last 2 days. Silly garbage.

Crazy how some don't get this, Hornsby is on the short list of greatest hitters of all time in all of MLB!

Of course he's on the Cards Mt. Rush!

You’re misconstruing what I said about Pederson. I was under the impression he was a FA at the end of this year.
