Could Suter's nickname be Soupy because his name sounds like pea soup? Like Hull called Chris McAlpine Cowpie?

It is not “pee us”. It’s pronounced P'YOOS.

It’s pronounced similar to the color puce.

I hear Sully saying "Oh that's puce" every time they say his name.

It’s not just Blues players who do this. It’s part of hockey culture, even in beer leagues.

mal you thats how jamie on 101 espn described it. You wanna argue with a canadian nhl player whohas been around the kid. Also they are calling him baby parayko... Jamie thinks he is going to be a great top line dman next couple of years
Well he’s wrong. Mailloux himself says the Ls are silent, the Canadians broadcasters don’t pronounce the Ls and I’ll note that hockeyreference.com is a good source for correct pronunciations. They also have it as:
Pronunciation: \LOH-guhn MAY-YEW\

I was only a few weeks younger when I got into a heated dispute about whether Mailloux was being called baby Parayko,

weird how I did actually read that because not only does Jamie Rivers know how to pronounce French better than the French, he apparently has no concept of Parayko's skillset relative to Mailloux' skillset. They are both defensemen, they are both Blues and they play RD, and one is younger than the other. That's the extent of how they are alike. They are opposites right down to their character as young men.

Not a big poutine guy, although there’s a place in Quebec that is pretty epic for it (that I loved).
