"The SEC is set to move to nine conference games next season with three permanent rivals. Now, Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione told ESPN that the SEC is set to announce the permanent opponents next Tuesday.
Those permanent opponents will be revealed on the SEC Network. That will allow the network to showcase the new scheduling format and give some explanation for what is going into the matchups moving forward."

My guess, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt for Missouri.JW wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:19 am Incoming next Tuesday, 9/23/25 per the article linked.

Greg Sankey said that they're not "permanent" opponents, they're annual opponents and are subject to change during the next scheduling go around. I believe he said that scheduling is a 4 year cycle and that in the next cycle they will re-evaluate the competitive balance and change schedules and opponents appropriately.

If that's true, why have three annual opponents at all?onemizzou wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:37 pm Greg Sankey said that they're not "permanent" opponents, they're annual opponents and are subject to change during the next scheduling go around. Is MU going to stop playing Arky? OU?
I don't think so.
The flexible 4-year cycle defeats the purpose of having 3 annual opponents.
What am I missing?

Re: 3 permanent conference opponents announcement?
It's probably being done that way because many programs will have to decide between multiple options and don't want any decisions to remain in stone..Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 16:20 pmIf that's true, why have three annual opponents at all?onemizzou wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:37 pm Greg Sankey said that they're not "permanent" opponents, they're annual opponents and are subject to change during the next scheduling go around. Will Mizzou most likely have Arky and Okie ongoing? I can see that
Will Vandy be swapped out after 4 or 8 years? I can see that too
Auburn will always have Georgia and Alabama, but would probably like more of a rotation with Florida, LSU and the Mississippi teams
Re: 3 permanent conference opponents announcement?
I'd far prefer South Carolina if the hate is high enough to qualify on both sides.
Vandy as ho hum as it comes have zero idea why Missouri would get them.
Tennessee would be good too.

yep....though oklahoma has several options. I would hope team history is a big play in it. Though, would it be bad if instead of oklahoma we get kentucky?Shady wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:38 amMy guess, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt for Missouri.JW wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:19 am Incoming next Tuesday, 9/23/25 per the article linked.

Need late October, early November trips to Lexington Kty. Bourbon and Keeneland weekends would be terrific
Re: 3 permanent conference opponents announcement?
For the sake of fairness, the Tigers are going to get a Blue Blood, and it's probably going to be OU in addition to Arky, which seems to be a given. Then I'm guessing SC.
