Realistic trade chip possibilities
A lot to choose from. Donovan, Nootbaar, Walker, Gorman, Scott or Church (not both), Arenado, a catcher or two.
Re: Realistic trade chip possibilities
Not going to happen unless blown away by an offer. Burleson is going into his prime. Consistent offensive production that the organization can rely on and still cheap. And, so far, pretty durable.

Re: Realistic trade chip possibilities
The 3 NTC guys should all be traded-If you keep Burleson he needs to play 1B, and Herrea only position is DH
Nootbaar, Donovan, Gorman, Walker, Church can all go bye-bye too.
They need to build around Winn, Wetherholt and Scott in my opinion.
Need as many athletes as possible, not a bunch of slow pitch lugs.

"Need as many athletes as possible, not a bunch of slow pitch lugs". True, if they can hit respectably. Also, need a consistent slugger or two, even with average speed. Ex. Burleson.

Re: Realistic trade chip possibilities
Burleson has "average speed?" I guess that's a downgrade from your previous claim that he's "an Edman-type player with good speed."
BTW, could you please explain your math on how a player with 10th percentile sprint speed (25.5 ft/s) is "average"?

Re: Realistic trade chip possibilities
Burleson is having a good year with the bat. But in what universe is 18 HR in 512 PA a "slugger"?

Re: Realistic trade chip possibilities
Donovan has the most value of those players on the major league roster who you listed. There would be some interest in Nootbaar. I think the Cardinals should trade him. Gorman might bring a little value because of his home run ability but you won't get much. Church and Arenado won't bring much at all. Teams looking for a defensive CF might have interest in Scott but he doesn't hit much. A catcher or two could bring a return if the Cardinals are willing to trade some of their young catching prospects. Maybe there is a team or two that consider Herrerra as a catcher. I wouldn't trade him. The Cardinals have a lot of left-handed hitters. They need to keep Herrera's right-handed bat.
You didn't mention Burley. His value is higher than a lot of players on the roster. I hope the Cardinals keep him. He was one of the few players worth watching this year but if the offer is good enough the Cardinals have to at least consider it.
