Tell Milwaukee that. They have had lower caps than the Cards and continue to finish ahead of the Cards. This season they have the best record in baseball.icon wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 11:18 amI think you are expecting too much for $18 million. I do not dislike the guy however I feel he is just not the integral piece on this team some feel he is. Look, 20HR's and 31 doubles are good stats and yes he is passable at defense. It is just that this team is need of some serious chemistry and players with truly solid numbers. For $18 mill I am thinking .280+, 25 HRs, 40 doubles is more of stat line we should be seeing. Wilson also does not appear to be a long term solution with this team in rebuild mode, and it should be about players looking to be here 5 years from now. I am one that is hoping he is convinced to go to a contender in the off season.82birds wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 10:55 am Assuming that’s the case, it’s been yet another solid year for the 33-year-old Contreras. The catcher-turned-first-baseman hit .257/.344/.447 (123 wRC+) with 20 homers, 31 doubles and a triple in 563 turns at the plate. His first full year at a new position has generally gone well, too. Defensive Runs Saved (+1) and Statcast’s Outs Above Average (+6) both feel that Contreras has been not only passable at first base but better than average. One would imagine that his defensive chops could continue to improve as he further acclimates to his new home on the diamond, though he’ll also play next season at age 34, so there’ll be a give-and-take between Contreras getting more experience at first base but also slowing down as he ages into his mid-30s.

Whatever, he is still earning that $18 million at 2.6 WAR. Meanwhile, the Yanks are paying Goldschmidt $12.5 million for 0.9 WAR.CardsBest wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 21:49 pmTell Milwaukee that. And, BTW, the Brewers are paying Yelich $24 million for 2.5 WAR. You think Brewers fans are complaining?
Bottom line: Why should Cards fans complain about players who are earning their keep?

Agree 100%. If he were getting the pay of a superstar and putting up those stats yea complain he’s not he’s getting paid as a complementary player which was what he was intended to be when he was signed. He was supposed to be a 5 hitter behind arenado and goldy not the main guy. Goldy and arenado imploded thrusting him into the position of having to be the guy and that’s never what he was supposed to be and isn’t getting paid to be. And he’s doing what he’s supposed to do I like him he’s my favorite cardinal behind Herrera he plays hard wants to win is the definition of a team player and he loves the team and wants to help them win.icon wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 22:05 pmWhatever, he is still earning that $18 million at 2.6 WAR. IMO, Production should be the most important thing to fans.icon wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 22:05 pmWhatever, he is still earning that $18 million at 2.6 WAR. There are those who obsess on what people make in all walks of life.
Like they should take less. Weird in a way.

He wasn’t bashing Burleson you laser-focused Burleson lover.
