Sure. And Liberatore for Cy Young, Wetherholt for ROY, Gorman for Comeback Player, Marmol for MOY. Am I missing anything?

Yeah, you did miss something. If all the above happens, then Bloom receives the Executive of the Year award by unanimous vote !russellhammond wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 21:04 pm Sure. And Liberatore for Cy Young, Wetherholt for ROY, Gorman for Comeback Player, Marmol for MOY. Am I missing anything?

Re: Will Burleson be the NL MVP Favorite for 2026?
Unfortunately, I would say WAY less than slim. I went to Baseball Reference and checked 40 different League Leader categories for the NL. He is 8th in BAvg, no other positive categories that I am seeing. The only other TOP 10 positives in the lineup are Scott 2nd in SB% & tied for 5th in Sac Hits, Contreras 1st & Herrera 8th in HBP, Donavan 8th in ABperSO.
On the bad side, Herrera 2nd, Contreras tied for 6th, and Burly tied for 9th in GIDP.
I am old and the readers aren't helping much, so maybe I missed a STL in there. If so, whoops, my bad.
He is also currently 5th in WAR among position players on the team. Donnie leads at 2.5, which is less than half of #10 in the league.
Sorry, this is NOT a good team and there is NOBODY close to an MVP caliber player.

Of course! Burly is the best player of this generation and can do anything he sets his mind to!
…except drive in 70 runs or hit in clutch situations or play defense or run the bases or reach 22 homers or finish with an .790+OPS from the favorable 3-spot while playing a power position, but all that is overrated. And of course the best argument, when comparing him to others on this 4th place team, his batting average and strikeout rate are a little better, so he’s pretty much elite.
MVP! MVP!
BTW…I do realize you are joking, unlike some other responders.

Since when do players who rank 5th in WAR on their own team get considered for MVP votes?
