So why in ALL his other seasons at C except for 2 where he had limited duty did he put up 3+ WAR(3.8, 4.2, 3.8,.3.3…..) and now that he’s unburdened by the tools of ignorance and despite what some are here saying NOW, which is quite laughable……he puts up a 2.6WAR at 1b??
And surveying the league 1b he’s sitting in between 10-15 ranking…..with him out for the season he’ll drop more by seasons end. This is not a top of the league 1b…..he’s an average 1b

Of all the players to cry and whine about Contreras isn’t one of themGoldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 14:58 pm So why in ALL his other seasons at C except for 2 where he had limited duty did he put up 3+ WAR(3.8, 4.2, 3.8,.3.3…..) and now that he’s unburdened by the tools of ignorance and despite what some are here saying NOW, which is quite laughable……he puts up a 2.6WAR at 1b??

He’s no Alonso, but I like him.Goldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 14:58 pm So why in ALL his other seasons at C except for 2 where he had limited duty did he put up 3+ WAR(3.8, 4.2, 3.8,.3.3…..) and now that he’s unburdened by the tools of ignorance and despite what some are here saying NOW, which is quite laughable……he puts up a 2.6WAR at 1b??

He not only produces, but appears to be a vocal leader in the infield too.
Re: Contreras
Who’s crying and whining??? Pointing out a fact that his offense didn’t improve switching from C to 1b as many predicted before the season is crying and whining? It would be nice if some would man up and acknowledge this fact instead of now saying NO ONE wrote or mentioned this…….Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 15:00 pmOf all the players to cry and whine about Contreras isn’t one of themGoldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 14:58 pm So why in ALL his other seasons at C except for 2 where he had limited duty did he put up 3+ WAR(3.8, 4.2, 3.8,.3.3…..) and now that he’s unburdened by the tools of ignorance and despite what some are here saying NOW, which is quite laughable……he puts up a 2.6WAR at 1b??

Another one…..all the Noot honks for years were saying that ONLY if he got the chance to play a full season…..with his glorious rate stats….well here we are
Re: Contreras
WC is fine…..that’s not the point. He was never the GUY in Chicago but was a good 2nd tier bat to complement actual stars. And that’s all he’ll ever be. If he’s counted on to be the main guy in your offense and “best” hitter on your team then you get an offense like the the 2025 Cardinalsecleme22 wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 15:05 pmHe’s no Alonso, but I like him.Goldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 14:58 pm So why in ALL his other seasons at C except for 2 where he had limited duty did he put up 3+ WAR(3.8, 4.2, 3.8,.3.3…..) and now that he’s unburdened by the tools of ignorance and despite what some are here saying NOW, which is quite laughable……he puts up a 2.6WAR at 1b??

Re: Contreras
Well, the team is in a rebuild and he’s still on the roster. So he’s only one of the better hitters because of how the team is built. Same with Libby or Gray being our ‘number 1.’Goldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 15:08 pmWC is fine…..that’s not the point. Re: Contreras
Well he has set career highs in rbi runs and doubles I would think setting career highs in rbi runs and doubles is an improvement in offenseGoldfan wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 15:05 pmWho’s crying and whining??? Re: Contreras
I hope by 2027 Contreras is phased out if not traded. Herrera should agreeably have the POTENTIAL to develop into a superior hitter, as a fulltime 1B.
2027 Lineup:
3B Wetherholt, 2B Donovan, 1B Herrera, LF Burleson, RF Baez, DH Gorman, SS Winn, C Crooks, CF Scott II
Contreras would backup 1B or DH (start about 70 games) or pinch hit, and even Blaze Jordan would be getting broken in if still with the organization. Bloom should be pretty familiar with Blaze. And then you've got Rainiel Rodriguez probably slamming down the door by 2028.
3B Wetherholt, 2B Donovan, 1B Herrera, DH Rodriguez, RF Baez, LF Burleson, SS Winn, C Crooks/Bernal, CF Scott/Padilla
