That was quite an accomplishment, and someday I'll remember it as such. But my present memory is as fond as those of having wisdom teeth pulled.remembirds wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 08:28 am Two years ago today, Adam Wainwright won the 200th and final game of his career …

Funny, but I was thinking about Waino yesterday, as in watching Pallante struggle is like watching Waino trying to get that 200th.

I remember that game vividly. It was a Sunday afternoon game. I was a sophomore at University of Missouri Rolla and had just left home to drive back to Rolla for the week. Listening to Mike Shannon go nuts on the broadcast made my drive back to UMR a lot more fun. I think ol’ Moon Man Mike wanted to get down to the field and mix it up with the combatants. Then afterward, he would have had a cold frosty Budweiser. Heh heh heh.butsir01 wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025 11:59 amGreat read. …and by that, I mean her beer. And a cold frosty one would taste real good right now. Ahhhhh.”
Can you imagine how the guys in the producer’s booth responded to all those Shannonisms?!?!

I still maintain that the Cards should retire #18 in honor of Thomas Michael Shannon, native St. Louisan, devoted Cardinal, 2 WS champ, selflessly moved to 3B to accommodate Roger Maris in RF, loyal Bleed Red Card broadcaster. A member of the Cardinals organization for over 60 years.
(bleep), Dewitt. Make it happen you putz.
