We actually do have a defenseman on the roster who exploded in production and produced a dominating numbers season under Montgomery. Nobody's really talking about him, but he's really important to this season.

so you think he's going to pace our offense from the D group? I think one of the reasons Faulk's scoring decline actually happened was because he was manning PP1 for a bit. He wasn't really asked to be that guy and Krug handled that. And Faulk was playing good 5 on 5. Let him do that and maybe PP2 or not at all and he's better for it.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:16 amnope. Re: Mailloux/Bro
You are right, Faulk should have an up year. I think we are all making a presumption that Faulk is traded for a good prospect or a really good pick. At last for me there are still a lot of "ifs" before a solid guy like Faulk is moved. But if everything goes to plan....... Faulk is a great trade chip. Strong, veteran D with a year on his contract.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:14 amyou really think Faulk will have another year of career low shooting percentage?moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 09:21 amand throw in another ~8 from Faulk.. yes pleasedr0zombie wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 09:18 amYou could take an easy out and say it is reasonable that Mailloux, Broberg, Parayko, and Fowler would average 10 goals each. Edit: I know we have a lot of people who are not fans of Faulk. Even in what we called a "down year" Faulk was 50th in points a 44th in ice time among defenseman. That makes him a really solid second pairing guy on most any team in the NHL. A lot of "ifs" to getting rid of a guy like Faulk.

pace the offense for the D? no. I stated he's prolly gonna score less than the 3 mentioned. I do believe he'll have a better year than last season. playing top pair mins while Parayko was out prolly exposed him at this point of his career. PP2 is prolly a good spot for him, depending on what they do with Broberg and LMcallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:20 amso you think he's going to pace our offense from the D group? Re: Mailloux/Bro
ahh reasonable. Yea I have a feeling it is Fowler and then a youth guy on PP2. That way if the youth guy is in for the 30-45 seconds end to the PP shift, they can get a matchup defensive line out there for when it expires. That is my assumption but who knows.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:26 ampace the offense for the D? no. I stated he's prolly gonna score less than the 3 mentioned. Re: Mailloux/Bro
Last season the Blues defensemen scored 46 goals, tied for THIRD behind the Avs (54) and BJs (51). The core is coming back, plus Mailloux and potentially more of Tucker. This is a core team strength, the defensemen are very effective penetrators who can break down and disrupt a defense. They MUST play an aggressive style of offense with forwards cycling back responsibly. With a stable of forwards with big lethal outside shots this style will win a lot of games. Unless Makar goes ballistic the Blues might lead the league in goals from defensemen.

I think Parayko is poised to have his best offensive season professionally yet.seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:07 am We actually do have a defenseman on the roster who exploded in production and produced a dominating numbers season under Montgomery. Parayko is starting to show he has some offensive chops, Fowler always has, and Broberg definitely has shown offensive capability.

Fowler is who exploded from how he had been playing. He hadn’t scored a goal last year until with St Louis

Tucker even had 3 in 38 games ... a 6 goal pace. Not bad for a 3rd pairing defensive minded Dman.

Yes he had 46pts in 58 games including playoffs which was a major contributing factor to the Blues turnaround.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 12:48 pmAre you referencing Fowler?seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 12:04 pmVery possibly, but that isn't even who I meant!TheJackBurton wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 11:28 amI think Parayko is poised to have his best offensive season professionally yet.seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:07 am We actually do have a defenseman on the roster who exploded in production and produced a dominating numbers season under Montgomery. Re: Mailloux/Bro
oh I think Fowler is primed to have a huge season as well. Parayko is exactly the type of partner he's been waiting for. He can play his offensive game knowing he has one of the best defensive defensemen in the game on his opposite side. He hasn't had that in quite some time.seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 18:52 pmYes he had 46pts in 58 games including playoffs which was a major contributing factor to the Blues turnaround.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 12:48 pmAre you referencing Fowler?seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 12:04 pmVery possibly, but that isn't even who I meant!TheJackBurton wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 11:28 amI think Parayko is poised to have his best offensive season professionally yet.seattleblue wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025 10:07 am We actually do have a defenseman on the roster who exploded in production and produced a dominating numbers season under Montgomery. I figure if he gets off to a hot start it won't be long before he gets his extension done. I'm sure Doug doesn't want to get into the same situation he got in with Scandella and Leddy. He wants to see if last years performance will translate into this season as well.
