Oli has to go with what he's got. Leahy, Jo Jo, O'Brien, Alcala and Svanson all worked a lot in the Brewers series. Fernandes and Roycroft do not belong on an MLB roster.

Not one of those clowns, much like the rest of the roster should be no where near the majors. Only in Mo and DeWitt land. Losing organization.

Roycroft is a symptom. Part of the problem is retiring, part of the problem remains in ownership, and part of the problem may remain in the dugout. We shall see....

coaching staff needs to realize throwjng all fastballs and nothing else doesnt work at the mlb level. while 4 seam and 2 seam fastball are technically different putches, its not enough and roycroft almost 80% of the time with his only "off speed" pitch being a cut fastball that is still almost 90mph. he needs more variation and a more contrasting pitch to his fastballs than just having a cutter as his only secondary pitch. it amazes me they bring him up to the manors with this all fastball play.

last year he actually threw a slider in the mid 80s instead of throwing a cutter. and while he wasnt perfect last year he was better. maybe go back to the slider. i dont understand why trying to not vary speeds at all is instead the strategy they went with for him this year replacing his slider with a cutter so that he doesnt really have an offspeed pitch

I'm sure there's more to the picture that I'm missing...but I kinda hate the cutter in general. We've been hearing about so-and-so's cutter for years on this team.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's not really a pitch that gets strike outs. It's a slightly slower fastball with movement. So that means if it doesn't move, it's basically a BP fastball. Plus, it feels like everyone we have throws one. Wouldn't it be better for us to have pitchers that have different arsenals? Especially in a short series?

Again, I'm probably oversimplifying, and also probably missing some data and other parts of the picture. But I'm sick of the cutter.

I don't think this was on the manager. SPs going 4 innings caught up to the team tonight. What they could have done differently is let Liberatore go another inning. Wanting to save his precious quality start likely stopped that. Other than that, this bullpen was out of arms and it showed. That is why they need to acquire 2 experienced relievers in the offseason.

How much of that is on the manager? AP is the exception in how he is used. He has exceeded 90 pitches
in 18 of 29 GS. 2 of 18 at 100 pitches exactly. 17 of those he gave up 3 runs or less. He's young, strong, NO KNOWN
injury and needs to learn, makes some debatable sense.

Of ML, MM, and SG

87 GS. Exceeded 90 only 23 times, 3 of which hit 100, combined. Of those 87 GS, in 63 they had given
up 3 runs or less so not necessarily getting rocked. 49 2 runs or less.

IMO,
Gray gets pulled secondarily to a bad inning. Miles lost trust. He's had 17 games at 2R's or less, another 4
at 3R's yet has only exceeded 90 3 times. Odd to me for 2 reasons, he's the only 200 IP guy and there no
commitment to him.
Libs was only at 77 last night and his velo had maintained. There was a stretch there when velo was down
it made some sense. No 90 pitch games after July 5. All 7 before that time. Seems to me if that is indeed
the plan that a piggyback pitcher could be included in that plan.

Fedde had 20 GS, 8 over 90, 3 of 8 over 100 and until 6/25 was solid enough. 9 games
2 or less runs including 4 zero run games.

McGreevy 14 GS exceeded 90 five times, 1 at 101. 7 times 2 runs or less. In those
7 games he has averaged 84 pitches including his last game 1 run on 81 pitches.
He's a rookie, has some reasoning.

But all those outs are thrown on the BP.
