STL CFB fan enjoying both MU AND Illini's teams

Post by hdhntr148 »

MU is off to a great start but so have the Illini. As that was my FIL's U we root for them as well as Tigers. Typical old Wi type team where they are very solid fundamentally on both Offense and Defense. While not as good as Eli in TP BB still has brought in his type of old school tough players on both sides of the ball and they are fun to watch. Altmeyer has a lot of experience, hangs in pocket and delivers good passes often to his second or third options.

Their D is tougher and more effective overall than MU's and you don't see wide open receivers all over the field. They are going to be tough in B1G and have favorable schedule. Going to play last years surprise IN in couple weeks and IMO they are going to expose them as they only play cupcakes in non conference games. Duke was a highly thought of team and they simply ran them over. BB looks like an unemotional robot on field but he does a great job of game prep and then adjusting during.

So I am set to enjoy both's season. Doubtful Il can win the conference and MU has such a favorable schedule they could be in mix for SEC championship and CFP. I think Illini can give the top dogs tough games.

will enjoy both's seasons.

I hate the Illini. And BB flunked out at Arky. Of course, they'll probably win more than lose in the very top heavy B1G. That conference is loaded with weaklings like NW, Purdue, Minnesota, Rutgers, Michigan State, Nebraska, UCLA, Maryland and Iwa (no o because they never have an offense.)

Michigan is supposed to be upper echelon, and their QB couldn't start for any SEC team except for maybe UK.

Marry into an Illini family and then root for them?

Something in your drink? Hypnotism? Hate to think what else you gave up to marry your gal.

I have never had any use for the horse face Bielema. Looks like the principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Not a big Bielma fan but have to give him credit.

That program was garbage for a long time.

As a Headhunter can tell you one place or business suits you, get a big pay boost to go somewhere entirely different and it doesn't always fit your style. That's what happened to BB, AR just didn't work out. \

Now at IL he is in a conference that he excelled at and is doing what he does. Bringing solid fundamental coaching to them, good running attack and a not flashy but good experienced QB and tough D. Not rocket science and he doesn't recruit a lot in STL region and doesn't really recruit same type players and mostly 2 and 3 stars.

Plus remember the Uber HOT wife he was married to for a long time? I always admire a guy who punches WAY above his level. LOL

BTW I am a kept man and have a wife who APPRECIATES everything I do for her. Most of family are MU grads with one guy who went to KU for a year and we rib him continually.

Uh Would NOT want to play Illini right now, that would be a very tough game. Bet they handle IN when they play soon.

I'd take that bet - or, at least I will be rooting for IN
