Concerned About Place Kicking
Yesterday, the freshman kicker missed his only attempt, @ 41 yards. Georgia Tech won on a last-play 55-yarder. With SEC games now the reality vs. the exception, I hope that Craig's injury doesn't come back to haunt us.
Re: Concerned About Place Kicking
I wouldn't get too alarmed yet. Craig was spotty last year but came through with some big FGs.
And the miss yesterday from 41 was straight and long -- just misaimed. Bad hooks or fades are a worse sign for kickers. We shall see.

We have been blessed the last few years with kickers who have strong legs and much needed accuracy. FGs can change games and strategies. IMO, there is no doubt we are going to miss what we have come to expect.

I’m concerned as well.
I guess I’d rather be cautiously optimistic

I wish this kid the best in coaching, training and results. But i remain concerned.

It was not long as barely made the back of the end zone. It landed right in front of me. When he was kicking before the game, we were talking the Drink may not send him out for anything longer than 45yds.

I saw somewhere he maxed at 41 yards in warmups. Allegedly he has a big leg though.
Count me in as concerned, but very hopeful too.

Yeah, and who knows? Going for it more on 4th down may actually work out for the best with the accuracy of Pribula so far and a great run game. We shall see.Armchair QB wrote: ↑14 Sep 2025 20:53 pmI saw somewhere he maxed at 41 yards in warmups. Allegedly he has a big leg though.

Re: Concerned About Place Kicking
uh you can be concerned but remember Craig and many kickers struggle with consistency when they are Da guy. I'm not someone who worries when this is reality. Will it cost a game or two down the strech? Who knows but all Eli can do is put him out there with kicks to boost his confidence and I am sure you will see more going for it in 4th and short situations, which personally I love. FG's are boring to a former OC Ike myself. Kirby is having a good year and IMO if this is reality make sure your short situations you have better plays.
Like I am ALWAYS amazed that you don't see the Tebow leap play at all when it was just so effective during his run at Florida. It is so simple and so effective and shouldn't be reserved for only goal line situations. stats on that were insanely good, don't think he didn't click on even one play.
for those who don't remember or were too young it's simply where you have a great running QB in bunched formation on the goal line and the QB does what everyone thinks he will do and go right up the gut into pile but stops just short, jumps up in air and makes very easy pass to a TE or WR over goal line.
Could see Beau to Brett work every time.
