STL fan in MN wrote: 12 Sep 2025 23:08 pm Had a fun time at the game tonight. Sat not too far from Army, Steener, Monty, MacInnis, Walt, Mellanby, Feltrin, Ryan Miller, Thorburn….quire a few others in Blues jackets too. They had the whole crew here.

Jiricek looked better than I was expecting. Solid play from him throughout. Very smooth skater. The PP looked better in the 3rd once he replaced Lindstein on PP1.

The PK was garbage. Very slow with reads. 3 of 4 Wild goals came on the PP. we outscored them 4-1 at 5 on 5.

Dvorsky’s shot is similar too Snuggerud’s in terms of velocity and release but not in terms of accuracy. High and wide a lot. Or shot right into an opposing player’s foot. The skill is obvious though.

Stenberg is very smart but is a much better distributor than shooter.

Lindstein looked fine. He’s not a PP guy so not sure why they had him on PP1 to start. Not his strength. Very calm and safe. Sometimes perhaps too much so. There were 2 plays where I felt he pretty easily could’ve gotten to a puck and with his smarts, skills and skating ability, likely would’ve won the battle but both times he backed off and played it safe.

Carbo was solid. The suplex takedown of the Wild goon was awesome. Even had all the Wild fans clapping at that play as he was escorted to the box.

Good on Fischer sticking up for Stenberg at the end with the fight. Nice scrap too. He looked solid overall.

Pekarcik and Stancl looked ok.

Peterson won’t ever score much but his compete level was sky high and he absolutely smoked a Wild player in the corner. Could be a Toropchenko type in the not too distant future.

Cranley was good too.

Thanks STL-MN. Great report.
Appreciate the summary and the pics.

If only this showcase could be 9 days later, I'll be in MN then.

I thought Dvorsky also had a good night at faceoffs. Most of the clean wins when I looked it was him at center. Regarding Adam Jiricek’s shot I’m sure adding 25 lbs since draft year has helped him add some zipp to his shot. Probably needs to add another 10-15 lbs over the next two years. Lindstein I’m sure will take more time to get used to the smaller ice surface and teammates. Passing being one of his strengths it will take some time to know what each player’s tendencies are. In saying that I hope the coaches can help him add a bit more aggressiveness to his game.

That was a very good fight, two big bodies. Hope neither player is injured.

The Blues have five 1st round picks out there who all look like future NHL players, and several others who look promising, and they still have all their upcoming 1st round picks. Strong organization, top to bottom.

Bluesfan1978 wrote: 12 Sep 2025 20:42 pm Love how Stenberg plays. Dvorsky looks like he added a bit of an edge to his game. Burns nice pass on the 3rd goal. Carbonneau will be a handful as he adds strength. Stancl and Pekarcik made a few plays. Lindstein looks just ok. Jirchek I think looks like the Blues best D in this game.
Stenberg was the smartest forward on the ice whenever he was out there. He is a gnat, for sure, but he is a devilish gnat.
Dvorsky looked incredibly calm for a guy who just turned 20. Burns is awesome... a great teammate and he made a few stellar breakout passes. I would buy a ticket just to watch Peterson fly down Right wing and cause havoc.

Anyone criticizing Jiricek as a first-rounder should quit following hockey.
We were the better team last night. Take away a three-minute penalty kill and it could have been a rout.

We did not get pushed around.

Really noticing how well he negotiates space. But more importantly, his stickhandling is really impressive.

Praying to the injury gods that they have had all the fun with him already. Just stay away.
Tim Taylor said on bk and ferrario that Jiricek has put on 25 lbs since he was drafted. Filling out his body should help with avoiding injuries.
Jiricek is definitely a different looking player physically than when I last saw him. The weight lends a power to his skating that’s he didn’t seem to have. His reverse skating is elite. A player like this makes an impact because of his skating and thinking. His frame just looks way better with the extra weight. Brantford has games next Friday and Saturday but he will probably still be in camp. Can’t wait to see the improvement pop at the junior level

Agreed. He visually looked different last night. Didn’t look huge or anything but didn’t look like a complete string bean anymore either. Probably the best player for the Blues last night. 2nd best player on the ice behind Buium.

Brantford is looking like they have the makings of a wagon this season so also very interested to see how well he does with them this season.

That said, he is AHL eligible so I suppose that’s an option too. I wasn’t considering it a legit option based on where he was at last season and they already have 8 d-men earmarked for Springfield but I’ll simply mention it’s an option the Blues have if they want it.

Going to share one more pic from last night. My kids were sitting next to a bunch of other kids and it got pretty rowdy. Nordy (Wild mascot) showed up and the kids loved it and all wanted pics with Nordy. My son asked if he could get a pic and I said, well…you could ask! But he’s not going to like your jersey. This is the result:

Posters were writing this pick off as a bust far too quickly. I traded a few messages with Ryan Smith it wouldnt surprise me at all to see Jiricek go to the AHL, the Blues would have closer control over his development and he could struggle at that level for awhile but we will see. Good first step by Jiricek this season, many more to go

I’d like to see Jiricek returned to junior for the year no matter how he plays. Let him get 60 plus games in plus WJC and gain some more size and strength for the year. Perhaps a deep playoff for Branford as well.

Carbo is playing like he intends to make the Blues. He will not but he is playing like he wants to make it tough. He is like the linebacker version of Perron.

Dvorsky expects to be the best player on the ice. He loves that shot from the right circle and wanted to make an impression so he was firing from there a little willy nilly into skates and wide. Couple of forced plays.

Lindstein is just going to get into a nice AHL rhythm this year. It will be his ability to make small little smart plays consistently that will start to show over time. He is a subtle one to appreciate

She laughed at this pic but Steen has been her favorite Blue for a while so I think she was annoyed we met Steen while she was dealing with a mysteriously dead bunny that showed up in the backyard…

This reminds me of two days ago when my partner was interviewing Annyong from Arrested Development and I was in my office buried in dispatch so I missed overhearing it
