It makes sense. Why take the chance. The earlier he gets his needed surgery, the quicker he will recover. This shouldn’t be a topic today, it should have been a topic last week.

Does Mo sign the infamous Motter to take Winn's spot?
Re: Winn done for year !!
Not quite .. recalling Fermin , who was just sent down
Re: Winn done for year !!
Of course, this was the correct move to make. It was foolish to have him play on a knee which has a torn meniscus.

Smart
No reason whatsoever for him to keep playing.

I wonder how much public outcry had to do with it. Until they announced the injury, he was gonna lay. Once announced, mucho displeasure in the fan base, then boom, he’s out.
“And it makes me wonder.”
“And it makes me wonder.”

Re: Winn done for year !!
A torn meniscus (I have had 3) does not put the knee at any greater risk.
It is nothing more than cartilage that has become loose.
The cleanup process is not invasive, and the full recovery period is a matter of several weeks.
It simply reduces discomfort and inflammation.
The structural integrity of the knee is not impacted.
No damage would have been done by Winn continuing to play and having the procedure in October or November, rather than September, would have had zero impact on being ready for spring training.
This is about nothing more than STL, having thrown in the towel on the 2025 season several weeks ago, simply allowing Winn to start his off-season a bit earlier and giving a few more PA's to others.
Non-story.

It is only about discomfort and inflammation.
Which is all the procedure addresses.
It is orthoscopic and takes minutes.
Has nothing at all to do with the structural integrity of the knee.
Meniscus is nothing more than soft tissue - it is not structural like ligaments (ACL, LCL, MCL, PCL) are.
I have torn an MLC and an LCL - and have twice completley ruptured an ACL).
Those are very significant injuries and full recovery takes months.
A meniscus tear is nothing by comparison.

Nope - but I doubt anyone here knows more about knee injuries from personal experience than I do.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 10:33 amshhh, he's an MD12xu wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 10:21 amWill Walking on a Torn Meniscus Make It Worse?Melville wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 10:13 am A torn meniscus (I have had 3) does not put the knee at any greater risk.

I have had multiple procedures performed over a 40 year period addressing meniscus and ligament issues.
I have played organized baseball, softball, football, volleyball, golf, and bowling - and have hiked hundreds of miles in the tallest mountain ranges in America - over those years with a series of meniscus issues, and I have never been prevented from doing so even with the discomfort.
Ligament tears and ruptures are a very different thing - and will knock a person out from these types of activities for months.
Winn have a minor, non-invasive procedure for a meniscus tear is a non-factor and a non-story.
It is about playing time and nothing else.
