Per Buster Olney--We may be stuck with Marmol through 2026
Hard for me to post today, but this is what was said.
"Current manager: Oliver Marmol. Any change at general manager makes for a climate of change, and Marmol has one year left on his contract at a time when Chaim Bloom is about to take over the Cardinals' front office. But the team has played better than expected this year, and Marmol has had regular communication with Bloom. Given Bloom's deliberate style and the fact that the Cardinals are not expected to spend aggressively this winter, some rival executives believe Bloom will want to work in concert with Marmol before making a decision for 2027 and beyond."

Exactly what I’ve been saying. You’re in for a big disappointment if you think Oli will be gone next year.

If we had the manager of your choice, are the 2025 Cardinals a playoff team/WS contender?Bully4you wrote: ↑11 Sep 2025 08:28 am Hard for me to post today, but this is what was said.

Oli's staring at his second under .500 season in three years.
He's done a miserable job but sadly it does appear BDWJr is going to keep him in place since he's paying him for 2026.

I still want a new start along with the new GM.
Don't believe Marmol is the long-term answer.

Yes, sadly it will most likely be Marmol in 2026.rockondlouie wrote: ↑11 Sep 2025 08:34 amHuh?Bully4you wrote: ↑11 Sep 2025 08:28 am Hard for me to post today, but this is what was said.

Doesn't make me excited for the new year.

Sounds like 2026 will be the continuation of the reset.
Maybe it will be a perpetual reset.

Not surprised. Frankly there are bigger priorities. I know many Will disagree with that.
I do expect a lot of roster changes in offseason. If not then they might as well go ahead and fire Bloom.

Re: Per Buster Olney--We may be stuck with Marmol through 2026
I think it would be a HUGE mistake for DeWitt to keep Marmol for another year. I understand that DeWitt has to pay Marmol whether he manages the Cardinals next year or not. I think it would cost DeWitt more money to keep Oli than to let him go. DeWitt has lost a large portion of the fan base. I believe that DeWitt would be better off bringing in a new manager that would give hope to the fans. In my opinion this is one of the first steps to getting people to return to Busch Stadium.

Well said.

So Mozeliak's shadow will remain in place? How dumb is that? You want to win back fans? Clean house. Get rid of the stench.

I am no defender of marmol.....but keeping this bunch even close to .500 is an accomplishment
