Re: Blues announce training camp roster and schedule
Only gave it a quick look but I don't see any surprises on the roster. Glad it's finally this time of year!

Same.
Was wondering if it might included a late PTO add but it doesn’t. Guys like Jon Merrill, Calvin de Haan, Ryan Suter, Jan Rutta, etc are still out there. Heck, Matt Grzelcyk is still unsigned and he scored 40 pts last season.

I honestly don't understand not signing Suter to another 1 year league minimum unless Suter didn't want to do that. All signs pointed to last year him being OK with being the 6/7 until he was thrust into the every day lineup. I really thought he was going the way of Otter and he was going to be approached to take a 1 year and then they would find something for him in the club whether it's coaching, scouting, front office etc... He made a couple comments that he really wanted to settle his family in STL if he was able to stay 1 more year because he liked the area and being around the Blues.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 11:26 amSame.

I know the defense is a mix bag of super vets and super young. But they are betting quite a bit on Kessel/tucker being rock solid with this Mailloux experiment.

What do you mean by another league minimum deal for Suter? We paid Suter $3M last season. His bonuses were so much we’ll be paying for most of them on this season’s cap. If he’d take an actual league minimum contract (no bonuses), then he’d probably be signed.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 11:58 amI honestly don't understand not signing Suter to another 1 year league minimum unless Suter didn't want to do that. Re: Blues announce training camp roster and schedule
I meant before the bonuses last year, the Blues were on the hook for 775. There was no real intention by the Blues to be playing all those games when Leddy was in the lineup. The initial thought was Parayko/Leddy Faulk/Broberg and then the mix of P.O./Perunovich/Kessel/Tucker/Suter. Leddy going down thrust him into the lineup.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 12:19 pmWhat do you mean by another league minimum deal for Suter? We paid Suter $3M last season. Anyways, I don't think it's as easy as it would be done. I do think there's a part of Suter's camp that wants to keep playing after getting thru 82 games relatively well. And the Blues coming at them and saying hey we are looking at 20-40 games max, I don't know if that cuts it. Could be wrong, that's all made up by me. That's just the feeling I got towards the end when the podcasts and end of the year stuff were saying that there hasn't really been much discussion after the initial talks about any kind of renewal.

Re: Blues announce training camp roster and schedule
Suter has played in 535 games in a row. He’s also reportedly complained about making sure he gets enough ice time and usage throughout his career. So the thought of him balking at not wanting to accept what should be a very part time role as a team’s #7 doesn’t sound far fetched to me at all.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 13:40 pmI meant before the bonuses last year, the Blues were on the hook for 775. The Hockey Guys were stating Army may be in on Grzelcyk, but is waiting. Monty knows him obviously. It would block a player like Tucker or Kessel. Grzelcyk is past 30. Defense is pretty well set. I trust Army and Monty to do what they think.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 11:26 amSame.

I hope not, he's almost as bad as Perunovich.hockey jedi wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025 14:44 pm The Hockey Guys were stating Army may be in on Grzelcyk, but is waiting.
