Thomas, Kyrou and Parayko and Binny per usual.
Holloway and Broberg because they both are in big contract years. With millions on the line I expect both of them to play hard all season long.

My only quibbles here are:
1. Buchnevich should place himself in this list. He is the top top line two-way winger, that he is passed over is something he needs to correct. He should be the most valuable winger on the team, or arguably no worse than second.
2.Schenn as 2C is more important than his stats suggest. Now, Suter will hopefully alleviate much of the risk of losing him or an age-related backslide, but it remains to be seen how much fill protection he will provide. The team was a hot mess when Schenn wasn't the 2C last season.
You’re not wrong. He’d probably be next on the list for me.

I was admittedly not a huge fan of re-signing Buch. Not that I don’t like the player but he’s just now starting his extension and he pretty clearly already appears to be in decline. I don’t think it’s a contract that will get downright ugly but I don’t expect the Blues to get great value out of it.
Who is responsible for the player contracts? Anybody know?
I was just getting ready to post that this was a great thread with some solid thoughts, viewpoints, dialogue etc... and then of course this idiot has to go off topic and plunk a Smelly one in the punchbowl.

This is definitely an interesting thread from a perspective of you can tell who people view are in the doghouse from a fan perspective. Kyrou barely a season ago was getting ripped for inconsistent play. Now it seems Buchy and Faulk are the new downtrodden. Personally I have come around on Kyrou. I just don't see him in the top 5 until he goes and puts up like a whopper of a season at 40 goals or 80 or 85+ points. He's flirted with that but I view him as a guy that MUST drive the offense. If he is a passenger, and plays his better 2 way hockey that he has the last season and a half, I can live with it. But too many gifts offensively to not be THE Guy.

I still have faith in Faulk even tho he is losing whatever that offensive gift that he had. To have 2 years of under achieving shot percentage for his career has to be some kind of anomaly. It means to me 2 things, his defense actually held up relative to his regular play, and he's still being aggressive without the results on offense. If he finds that gear again, it could be a fun season.

You are just going to have to get Army to sharpen his act. Till then, you won't get a carefree sip from the punchbowl, just like I won't get a carefree sip of news from around the NHL.

This would be my list hoping that Buch replaces Broberg. Not so much that Broberg doesn't play well but that Buch bounces back and is just better which would bode well for the team.

+1... This is exactly what my top nine would look like. Add Buch to make it 10.

Holloway doesn't need a contract year in order to play hard all season. Watch him closely. He plays hungry regardless. And once he gets a big contract he will still play the same style ... that's my bet.

I agree with you. I liked both of their efforts and outputs. I'm just saying.... Holloway was thought of as most likely a 3rd/4th line plug when he came here but this one season coming up will determine if he gets paid like a top 6 guy or a bottom 6 guy. Millions at stake this time. He's got a lot of incentive to have a career year and I expect him too.

We are on the same page. That Hockey Sense interview of DH left no doubt that this kid is internally driven. He's wired to be the best he can be.

He sounded a lil pizzed he didn't get more of a chance in Edmonton. He's gonna be a beast this season.
