This happened last week..
And he has a full NMC. But why would he really care if his contract gets traded? He gets paid the same either way.

Re: So long Carey.....
The article did not mention that so I was wondering how that could be thanks for the clarification.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 12:07 pm This happened last week..

If he's not expected to play again, why would he Sharts have to give up a player in exchange for taking that contract away. If anything, I would think that Montreal would have had to give away something more than a 5th round pick to get someone to take that contract off their hands. I don't get it - seems weird to me...

The player SJ traded away, Gannon Laroque, is a negative asset. His career is basically already over due to injury from what I’ve heard. So SJ is saving not having to pay him this season and it frees up a contract spot too.danno wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 13:01 pm If he's not expected to play again, why would he Sharts have to give up a player in exchange for taking that contract away. The Sharks also weren’t a ton over the Cap minimum before the Price trade either. This would’ve limited their ability to eventually sell off players. They have 10 pending UFAs on the team. If they want to sell off some of them for picks to continue their rebuild (which they do), then they’re going to need to take Cap back to be able to send Cap away. This allows them to do it without actually costing them much in terms of real world dollars.
I thought it’d take more than a 5th to get a team to take on Price’s contract but it makes sense for a team like the Sharks.
Re: So long Carey.....
Ok, that makes more sense then. I figured there must have been a backstory with that player for him to be included. I'm guessing that SJ wouldn't have had to include him in the deal then if they didn't want to. I suppose they must have wanted to shed that contract also.
