Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
So, he pitches 1 2/3 innings in A ball and now he's moved to AA?
Must have been one hell of a 1 2/3 innings!!!
I guess they want him to get more work before year ends

Palm Beach's season is over now
And honestly a college pitcher w/his experience shouldn't have been started in A ball anyway.

Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
That’s surprising but I guess they are wanting him to get in more games so it makes sense
Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
Didn't they put Cooper Hjerpe at that level too?rockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am Palm Beach's season is over now

I thought that kid was gonna be better.
It's quite a leap to just draft him and place him at AA though.

It's good news.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am That’s surprising but I guess they are wanting him to get in more games so it makes sense
If they didn't think he could handle it, they wouldn't promote.
I see it as good news anyway.

AA should bring a nice challenge for him.
Exciting draft pick (two years in a row)

Doyle was the #5 pick in the draft, led college ball in KO's and has four years of college ball experience that includes two years in the SEC (the best).
The college experience puts him well above Class A players, on par w/AA level where he belongs.
Hjerpe was drafted much later as the 22nd player drafted in his class and started at A+ and only had three seasons at Oregon.
Doyle had an extra season of college ball.
No offense to Hjerpe, but Doyle is a way higher level prospect.

He hadn't pitched in a while, so could be some rust.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:09 amAnd 2 walks and a hitBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:06 amHe had 3 K's in his debut and it was 1 2/3 innings!!Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:04 amOh it’s good news to me also just surprising newsBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:03 amIt's good news.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am That’s surprising but I guess they are wanting him to get in more games so it makes sense

3 K's is nice.

Well, wherever they place him, I just hope he dominates.rockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:11 amNot really BullyBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:02 amIt's quite a leap to just draft him and place him at AA though.rockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am Palm Beach's season is over now

We need a #1 in the worst way.
This is the only scenario (draft) I see us getting one.

The great news is he's coming in w/the fully re-vamped C. Bloom minor league player development in place!Bully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:13 amWell, wherever they place him, I just hope he dominates.rockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:11 amNot really BullyBully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 11:02 amIt's quite a leap to just draft him and place him at AA though.rockondlouie wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:57 am Palm Beach's season is over now

Both he and JJW get the full benefit.
If he can harness his great stuff and develop control (the toughest thing for a KO artist like Doyle), then he's got all the tools to be that #1.

Maybe, just maybe the offseason won't be so boring too.

No Brainer.
He pitched in the SEC and was a top 5 pick.
AA is where he should be to start 2026.
