A high school girl in Michigan starts getting nasty texts from a strange phone number. Over the next year, the abuse escalates and the whole community begins to turn on each other. When an FBI data investigator tracks down the culprit, things get weird...
Stop what you're doing and watch this before someone spoils it for you.
Even if you remember this story from the news a few years ago and know how it ends, check it out. This is a bizarre story.

Re: Netflix doc 'Uknown Number'
I started this last night. Waited until after the Chiefs game and the tennis so I fell asleep. I didn't nod off from disinterest, quite the contrary. It was fascinating. The last thing I remember was the other girl being introduced. I'm guessing I still have at least half the doc to watch. I'll fire thru the rest sometime today. Thanks for the rec.
Spoiler
I only caught the rival girl for a minute or two. My immediate initial thought was 'this seems way too obvious." I'm interested to see if I'm right or not

Holy (bleep) didn't see the Mom as the suspect. I thought maybe it was going to be his Mom, not hers. The Mom is a certified sociopath. What a mental case. Her attempts at victimization "I was mentally ill and never realized it" were obnoxious. Her tone, her statements, just brutal. And I feel awful for the daughter. I don't quite understand how she went running back to Mommy but I suppose it's human nature. I would have probably killed her.

The wife and I watched it over the weekend. A truly crazy story and an ending that totally shocked us!

I knew nothing about this case, but going into it there were three very likely suspects because
That was at the beginning.
Later, near the end, they reported this very quickly, which was the key

….. the narrator said we would never guess who did it. So I knew that means either the girl herself, or one of the moms did it. This is the thing females do, men don’t do this crazy [shirt].

The girls’s family moved four times in a very short time. That indicates extreme chaos. Something very wrong is happening in that household. That’s when I knew it was her mother.
It was remarkable that they had the the video footage of when they confronted the girls mother. That’s surprising, but I suppose it’s public information.
I also did not entirely buy their reluctance to change phone numbers for the kids. If this is my child, I’m getting them out of that abusive situation and that is a more important thing than “catching” the perp.

Re: Netflix doc 'Uknown Number'
I thought the production was not very slick. Most of the real life characters deliver their narrative in flat voices, which I understand is normal because they’re not professional actors, but the whole thing was not a top-notch documentary.
The podcast “Criminal “has a most bone chilling, two part production that I thought was more interesting than this video. I can’t remember what it’s called, but let’s just say it’s a very similar situation where someone is abusing a young woman’s credit and the abuse and stalking and impersonation goes on for years.
