Yes, that was very unfunny. Thankfully they don’t do that anymore.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 06:14 am^^^TraveledLessRoad wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025 19:21 pmYeah, "Tim." I don't agree that they don't talk about sports. Some of it is angsty takes about the local teams from texters, but those can be pretty funny. I don't get into the locker room humor myself, but there isn't as much of that as some people seem to think. The secret to their success is that they don't take themselves too seriously as opposed to Bernie who loves him some Bernie. I don't think everyone commenting on this thread has listened very much to the show.

Re: OT: TMA on 101 FM
I've tried 5 different times to listen to TMA this morning and the only time it was remotely related to sports was when they interviewed BT.
Also, Tim has got to be the biggest doosh on morning radio. He must raise his voice to a quick scream at least 20 times per show.
They're not very informative, they're definitely not funny, and it's just not entertaining. I hate to say it but, it makes me wonder about people who actually enjoy this show.

I had it on twice this morning and they were talking about sports both times. I find it interesting that you talk about the show not being informative. No sports radio show is informative. I have long ago figured out that these guys, except for having a little more access to the teams themselves, don't know anything about sports that I don't know. You are not going to hear anything particularly insightful from any sports radio.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 10:57 am I've tried 5 different times to listen to TMA this morning and the only time it was remotely related to sports was when they interviewed BT.

I find the quick scream thing funny because it is a parody of all the absurd "hot take" radio that permeates the genre. Once again, they don't take themselves seriously. This isn't politics, religion, or philosophy. These are just games.
People vary widely when it comes to what they find funny. I'll admit that some of the stuff is very sophomoric, but I will take it over national ESPN radio having yet another God-forsaken segment about the NFL. I sometimes catch part of the show that comes on before TMA and all they talk about is the NFL and gambling. I don't know that they have talked about hockey once in all the times I have heard them. At least TMA is local and different.

Exactly. It’s part of the schtick. Again, the show is four hours long. Do people really want to an hour-long breakdown of the Seattle bullpen to “get you ready for tonight’s game?” A recurring joke on TMA is “would the NBA work in St. Louis?” Does anyone really want to have that discussion? Do we really need to rehash Greatest Show on Turf memories again? Folks really want a breakdown of what happened in the NFL yesterday in a non-NFL market?Bob39 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 11:19 amI had it on twice this morning and they were talking about sports both times. They “talk sports” when there’s something to talk about.

Re: OT: TMA on 101 FM
I looked at the podcast feed for today’s show:
— Chris Kerber talking Blues
— Brad Thompson talking Cardinals
— Gabe DeArmond from PowerMizzou talking Border War
What else is there to talk about in local sports?

Agreed. I liked Bernie. I like TMA. Randy k is a legend, but his show was so boring. Lame interviews, same topics everyone else talked about with limited intimate knowledge of the sports other than “this guy played for this team in 1972 and put up these stats.”Cardsfan1586 wrote: ↑05 Sep 2025 10:23 am Started off hating the show. Better than Randy K. Thats a FACT
Unpopular opinion: Bernie was the best. Always brought great baseball analytics.

Re: OT: TMA on 101 FM
Can't stand it and it has as much to do with the listeners as it does the show itself.
They tried to be the St. Louis Jim Rome show and it simply doesn't work and hasn't worked.
I'm not going to say they are unpopular because you don't stay on the air for 20 years if you are unpopular.
I will say however, when 101 came on the air one of their leading things was they were there to talk local sports, not locker room humor and it was a direct shot at the morning after.
Now they have that exact show on their airwaves. I don't listen to it, I won't listen to it, and because of that I rarely listen to 101 at all.

Again...Cardinals guest, Blues guest, Mizzou guest today. What local sports topics didn't get covered that you wanted to hear about?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 14:13 pm Can't stand it and it has as much to do with the listeners as it does the show itself.
