Refs were awful today. Also missed Daniels stepping OOB by a lot.
I didn't think the officiating was bad. There was one bad call and one questionable one.

Coleman is awesome, Johnson is great, Norfleet is great, Manning and Blood are very good. Might be the best WR corps in the country. It's nice to have a QB that can get the ball to them too.
Absolutely.

And then you have the 2 outstanding RB's along with Pribula for teams to contend with.

It's a very potent offense. And the O line did make improvements yesterday

The oline was ok but between the tackle breaking RBs and the great play by Pribula and the WRs the oline is being made out to look bet than they are. The oline is not as bad as last year's line at this time but they still have problems.

Our receivers were spectacular yesterday. They just do not drop the ball, and Pribula was dropping dimes all day in tight windows. Even that deep out he threw to Johnson was right on target, and Johnson had a chance to catch it, but the KU defender made a play on the ball at the last second.

I just watched at ratings blog. The RBs had 17 forced missed tackles, 13 of them by Hardy. Also they pointed out that Pribula is 3rd in the nation in completion percentage and 2nd in in passer rating with a 92.3 score.

This is a very potent offense. Remember last year how concerned everybody was after lackluster showings against a couple of cupcakes? I'm very encouraged by what I see both in the passing game and the running game. And the offensive line overall was far better yesterday than in the first game. 595 yards of offense and 40 minutes time of possession speak to that.

So I guess that means Moore is calling the plays and not Drinkwitz right?

 I don't care one bit about getting in the weeds with all that stuff. I just want to see the offense perform, and it has.

Pass D didn’t look good.

I thought everything else was aces. Also at least worth noting the guys who Mizzou struggled to contain was a 6th year QB and a 7th year TE. At some point we’ll get back to 19-21 year olds playing just each other.
This is a great point.

I noticed too that the Dominant Jayhawks were 6th year players? Paying these guys is one thing, but letting them hang around until they're 30 seems a bit much.
Couldn’t agree more. I sounded off in a Diego Pavia thread this summer when he was granted another year of eligibility. I can’t wait to see the excuse he comes up with next summer to run it back again, again.

The face mask penalty call by the back judge was not a bad one. It certainly looked like one from a distance. What was bad was the the three officials standing around the play who DIDN’T call it and who HAD to have a better view, did not overrrule him. The more egregious call was the out of bounds non-call. Daniels clearly stepped out of bounds, not once, not twice, but THREE times. It even appeared they weren’t going to review it. To make it even worse, even after they reviewed it, they didn’t mark out where he went out first, or second, but the last place. I was beginning to wonder if Angel Hernandez had become an NCAA official.

I was away and didn't get to see the game. Can someone please tell me what the heck happened in Q1?

Not all bad calls are equally bad though either. The phantom facemask, which as you point out was discussed at length and should have been easily ignored, extended a touchdown drive. The missed holding call on M. Johnson in the end zone means we get a fresh set of downs inside the 10. The overruled uncatchable PI was another. Their right tackle got a head start on a half a dozen plays, I guess if you play in the KC area you get to do that. While our interior line could have collapsed the pocket more often we certainly were held a couple of times when they did. When considering the consequences, the refs had a pretty poor game.

Scoop and score TD for kU right after a TD. The entire game the kU offense was either: 1. 2019 LSU or 2. 3 downs and out for minus yardage. Seemingly nothing in between. They put together two good drives in that first quarter.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that hold on Johnson in the end zone. The defender had a clear hold of his shirt.

I'm still not sure if his first step was out of bounds although I remember a game at SC (2018) where we lost a TD because a very similar foot placement was called out of bounds. The facemask was questionable. I can still see where his helmet pulled down and left like a thumb got in there but I've seen a LOT worse not get called. Again, I thought the officiating was pretty decent overall.
