Offense good despite oline
The oline was ok but between the tackle breaking RBs and the great play by Pribula and the WRs the oline is being made out to look better than they are. The oline is not as bad as last year's line at this time but they still have problems. They're going to need to improve quite a bit if this team wants to beat SC in a couple weeks because SC will play a lot like the Gayhawks. They were able to keep it close with a handful of big plays and SC will likely do the same given our issues in the secondary. That game could have an over/under of 100.
Re: Offense good despite oline
with asolid win against a quality opponent and now a chance to really get even better this week perfect way to be prepared for SC who had real issues with their supposed cupcake yesterday. Lot of solid quality SEC games coming up so they need to get their Oline and D better.
Re: Offense good despite oline
Not going to pick on them. I mean the line as obviously a big part of the 3 strong quarters of offensive play. I think they progressed quite a bit as a unit and gave Prib decent protection while the RB's had their holes. 79's fumble recovery was worth something as well.onemizzou wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025 06:32 am The oline was ok but between the tackle breaking RBs and the great play by Pribula and the WRs the oline is being made out to look better than they are. The D secondary is def the #1 issue for the team to work on and I think a lot of their issues might have come down to poor coverages that were called from the sideline. If Danials was on the money they had the guys wide open quite often.

I rewatched the game particularly to look at Green and how he performed. And he did a fine job for the most part in past protection, often running the defensive end around the bend behind Pribula as the tackle is supposed to. And on running plays, he often was pushing his man whoever that was yards away from where he wanted to be and even had some pancake blocks. His footwork was much improved. When problems occurred in pass blocking, they were mainly coming from elsewhere, even at tight end.
There is no way an offense can rack up 595 yards without good blocking. Every single game will have some breakdowns. They weren't that critical. Also, one has to take into account that the Tigers ran 75 plays and had the ball for 40 minutes. Again, you can't sustain drives and hold the ball that long without some good blocking. And the more plays you run, the more chances you have for breakdowns. I for one am very pleased with how the offensive line performed compared with last week. Especially with Green.

I understand your take but as I said the RBs broke a lot of tackles and Pribula and the WRs made the pass blocking look good. Gonna need to improve if we want to beat teams with good defenses and kU is not one of them.icon wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025 12:26 pm I rewatched the game particularly to look at Green and how he performed. Re: Offense good despite oline
Winning is hard folks.
How it happens seldom matters and it never changes the scoreboard.
Hard to predict what will happen in week 4 vs SC and Sellers.
Bottom line every week is a season of sorts and how the trio of offense, defense, and special teams plays on that day is all that matters.
I hope we don't have to score 42 points every week to win but if that is what it takes so be it.

Re: Offense good despite oline
Their D didn't look 595 yards bad. 4 converted 4th downs greatly helped the Tigers. That LB Kamala played well and caused some problems. And there were lots of tight windows Pribula threw into. Their secondary looked far better than the Tigers'. Pribula had to thread the needle often, and the receivers caught everything, unlike their receivers.onemizzou wrote: ↑07 Sep 2025 16:28 pmI understand your take but as I said the RBs broke a lot of tackles and Pribula and the WRs made the pass blocking look good. PFF review had Green as now one of best LT's in country and graded at 90. was very high on MU as a team and all those long sustained drives showed how strong they are overall. With TWO stud RB's along with offense which spreads the ball around as Beau is good at finding secondary targets. Beau himself was rated as one of best QB's in country.
Re: Offense good despite oline
Thank you for that information about PFF on Green. That's very interesting. As I said, I rewatched the game, and he looked like he was right at home at left tackle. So that guy who was on here saying that Green could never be a left tackle has vanished. I know it's premature to say that he will be good at left tackle over the long haul, but he sure improved game over game. His blocking was not a problem.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 08:50 am PFF review had Green as now one of best LT's in country and graded at 90. was very high on MU as a team and all those long sustained drives showed how strong they are overall. And other teams are reportedly having difficulties with their offensive lines. UGA and LSU for two. I do think the Tigers' offensive line overall can be better and probably will be as they learn to jell. There are three new faces on that line. I trust this coaching staff in that regard.
Re: Offense good despite oline
If this Oline keeps improving this could be a 10 win team, but it needs to keep improving. Current play won't be good enough against the tougher part of our schedule.

We left points on the field for sure. Misfires at key times was frustrating. But (bleep), what an overall dominant performance. This team has a chance to be very special if we can keep momentum going and that includes the O line improving week by week. They’re key to this thing.
Re: Offense good despite oline
Considering that the Tigers ran 76 plays Saturday to KU's 49, some breakdowns on the OLine are not that surprising. And those are going to happen every single game to every single team. Green's progress at LT was remarkable. I'll take it, but this line with 3 new faces and Green with a new position needs a bit of time to jell. Meanwhile, 595 yards of offense against a P4 team is kind of okay.Armchair QB wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 11:19 am We left points on the field for sure. Misfires at key times was frustrating. Re: Offense good despite oline
Where? Mizzou punted only twice and fumbled, all in our own territory. We left points on the field for sure.
Another drive ended in four-down territory at the ku 35.
Otherwise, Mizzou scored on its other SEVEN possessions, including the short FG to tie the game at the half. (Absolutely the right decision)
Re: Offense good despite oline
We ran 86 plays and yes Green has acclimated to LT pretty well but Peegler isn't doing well. And I'll say it again the RBs have 17 force missed tackles meaning they weren't getting a lot of holes to run through but when they did the WRs provided a lot of blocking to spring for big plays. The improvement over week 1 was nice but there has to be more improvement in order to handle teams like aTm, OU, Auburn and 'Bama and even Vandy who looked really tough.icon wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 11:35 amConsidering that the Tigers ran 76 plays Saturday to KU's 49, some breakdowns on the OLine are not that surprising. Good news is that Pribula handles pressure really well and our receivers just don't drop balls.
Re: Offense good despite oline
Yeah, it was 86 plays. That makes it even more impressive that there were relatively few major breakdowns.onemizzou wrote: ↑08 Sep 2025 12:18 pmWe ran 86 plays and yes Green has acclimated to LT pretty well but Peegler isn't doing well. I felt the big uglies came together pretty well on Saturday. Much improved from the Central Arky game.
