Fernandez and Roycroft
SMH. This is what Moe is leaving us? 8.87 and 6.32 ERAs, respectively? You want fans, Bill? Start with getting rid of those two spares. Four hits and two ERs in one inning last night. Shame on you, Fernie.

Re: Fernandez and Roycroft
Neither are good. Especially Roycroft. Typical Mo call-ups. He is just really bad at roster construction.
Re: Fernandez and Roycroft
Clearly we are in a trial/evaluation period.
In regards to the BP:
Svanson has been looking really good so far.
O’Brien pretty solid with upside with his stuff.
Others TBD- Alcala, Granillo, Graceffo.
Shaky- Munoz
Roycroft? Unless something dramatic happens in the next 3 weeks he is history.
Fernandez? Probably the same. But...I still wonder what happened to him as he was pretty good last year!

Re: Fernandez and Roycroft
Bloom probably won't either on his 26 man.

For a long time I thought you were over the top with your criticism of Mozeliak. But I have to admit, the more and more this roster gets exposed, the more I realize just how awful he really has been at judging talent, especially pitchers. Maybe the worst in team history.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025 11:57 am Neither are good. Especially Roycroft. Typical Mo call-ups. He is just really bad at roster construction.
His position players choices are better, in the sense that they’re not all-time awful, but he still has displayed an innate ability to identify slightly below average position player talent and make them a fixture in the lineup while trading away the only real talent from the minors. How can he be that wrong consistently? It appears you weren’t exaggerating, he really has been that bad!

Before 2023, I thought Mozeliak haters were whiny nut jobs. I mean, really, how can you complain about a middle-market team that finds a way to make the playoffs as much (or more) than the largest payrolls in MLB and occasionally wins a WS?CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025 12:19 pmFor a long time I thought you were over the top with your criticism of Mozeliak. But d*mn were they right. They saw the writing on the wall long before I did. I guess we foolishly believed Mo would keep finding ways to field playoff teams but nope, the Aroz, Gallen, and Alcantra deals broke him.

Re: Fernandez and Roycroft
Admittedly I can be radical in my opinion of Mozeliak and Marmol. But I do believe John Mozeliak rode the coattails of others to success. After they left, he was exposed as a fraud.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025 12:19 pmFor a long time I thought you were over the top with your criticism of Mozeliak. Re: Fernandez and Roycroft
At times both have a good outing. Not enough
Roycraft struck out the side last night but gave up 2 hits and a walk
Fernandez picked up a save last week
I am not say keep either
A decision needs to made
We need 6 or 8 spots on the 40 man roster to protect against rule 5
There are 6 or 8 players that don't have much a future in St Louis
They need traded if possible for none players that have to be protected this year

Fernandez was seen as one of the first instances of Bloom's influence. He came from Boston's system.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025 12:09 pmNobody other than John Mozeliak would have either on a MLB roster.

One more time for this Fernie feller! Moe, you are just too good to us. What will we do without you? You need to write a long letter to Bloom and tell him how you managed to eff up this franchise. Leave it in the top drawer of your desk.
