A Renaissance Man and a very smart and innovative player. perhaps the last really intelligent NHL Goalie to play without a mask. He did come to his senses and rocked a pretty one as soon as he had the clout.

Sad sad day. A giant of the game. Sat out a year, finished his law degree at McGill and then came back and dominated. The Game is one of my favorite reads.

That’s cool. Talk about a couple of guys that defined “old school.”

RIP KD.

A lot of times still, when a goalie has an amazing game I’ll say it was a Dryden-esque effort

Kindof amazing he only played seven full seasons. Last four years won four of his five Vezinas. And even got votes for the Byng that last year. I haven't looked, but suspect that is not common for goalies.

Good reminder, I have been meaning to read it for awhile I should pick up a copy. True excellence involves not just being good at one thing (sports) because it's common to get good at one thing, and Dryden epitomized an overall human being whose excellence in sports was a part of him.

I also need from you this whole halloumi/sumac variation on that beans/kale dish. I made it on Wednesday and I got the sumac and halloumi so it's available for next time but this week I made it the old way not knowing the proportion of new ingredients

Won Cup and Conn Smythe before losing a regular-season game — or the Calder.

Great goalie and pretty amazing guy overall. His brother Dave was a decent NHL and WHA goalie too. RIP

I didn't know he ever played without a mask. The last one I remember is Gump Worsley.

You are correct- my memory was wrong. He wore a primitive one in College ( Cornell) that was made in 1964.
I own my mistakes when I learn about 'em.
