Brant Brown rips Walker

The human condition is absolutely fascinating with its capacity to take a couple of relatively harmless comments, someone else laughing at a joke, and turn them into a conspiracy.

Here's the interview, and it shows Bernie, Oli, Ganjie or something, and one other guy all on their web cams close up and personal while Brant Brown is discussing Walker. The Walker bit starts around 10:30, and Bernie asks a good question about Cardinals inability to hit fastballs after that.

IMO, Brown wasn't "ripping" Walker, but it certainly was public criticism. Hopefully, a wakeup call. And Oli, who I cannot stand as a manager, wasn't laughing like a weasel at the comments. He was laughing at a joke, like all of them were.

I’ll admit here that this is pure speculation. With not much if any evidence to support it. But part of me wonders if Walker has just had enough with this current regime of coaches and front office staff. He’s been mishandled since entering the majors and I wonder if he’s lost all confidence to the point where he is no longer willing to listen/uncoachable to this collection of dumb dumbs. And unless he is traded or there is a complete overhaul of the coaching staff and new beginning of the Bloom era he will just kind of be coasting by while in a Cardinal uniform

Brant Brown's job is on the line, too. If Walker isn't doing his part, why should Brown be fired for it?

On the other hand, if it is not true, then Brown's job should be on the line.

Did anyone here actually listen to the interview? Brown and Marmol didn't sound angry at all. Seemed like they were trying to be pretty diplomatic but also transparent. It did not appear pre-meditated or calculated, and it acually felt like they had not considered at all how this might be portrayed in the media.

My overarching takeaway is not actually at all about JW, it's about how thoughtless and dumb Marmol/Brown are to say things like this without any apparent care for the consequences. It literally cannot accomplish one productive thing, and will likely lead to multiple downsides both for the player and the team. Cause most human beings simply don't respond to well to public humiliation.

Brown did not say one word without prior knowledge, planning, and approval from The Marmot.
Incredibly stupid on their part.
Funny thing is that in trying to back the bus over Walker, they exposed their own incompetence behind the wheel.
Walker may or may not be on his way out the door - but they certainly are.
Easiest decision Bloom will make all off-season.

His level of intelligence is very likely one of his biggest problems. Well, that and his inability to recognize a pitch in a nanosecond.

Many great hitters achieved success by feel and natural instincts and ability, and, oh yeah, their ability to recognize a pitch.

Analysis paralysis is very real and something I have far more experience with than I care to know. I'm sure he's in his own head big time right now.

And if he doesn't want to work as hard as is necessary to be a great player, that's on him as well.

He's been horrendous for two years now. And there is ZERO sign he's figuring anything out.

I think you are onto something. Surely, a highly intelligent person is going to find themselves overthinking, which can lead to a lot of doubt and second-guessing.

I'll have to watch what you shared. I haven't seen it so it's possible thebcomment was even made in jest, hence the laughing. Maybe he's overpreparing in reality and they are poking fun at it. Still not professional. Who knows. Hopefully he hits 30 homers next year and it's with us.
