Good for him, I'm an even bigger fan of BBnow for telling it like it is.

J. Walker got to the majors based on his raw talent.

BUT

It appears from reading BB's comments he's not open to coaching and may even be a bit hard headed (surprising from such a smart person).

He's not going to make it in MLB w/that attitude.

My overarching takeaway is not actually at all about JW, it's about how thoughtless and dumb Marmol/Brown are to say things like this without any apparent care for the consequences. It literally cannot accomplish one productive thing, and will likely lead to multiple downsides both for the player and the team. Cause most human beings simply don't respond to well to public humiliation.
Brown did not say one word without prior knowledge, planning, and approval from The Marmot.
Incredibly stupid on their part.
Funny thing is that in trying to back the bus over Walker, they exposed their own incompetence behind the wheel.
Walker may or may not be on his way out the door - but they certainly are.
Easiest decision Bloom will make all off-season.

What did Marmol say?
From Bernie:

OLI MARMOL: “Because there's a combination of talent, but also I do feel, to what Brownie said earlier, there's going to be buy-in, and there's a level of aptitude there that will allow for it.

“He's young, and when you first get here, it's easy to have success. That's why I love when talking to Yadi [Molina] and Albert [Pujols) and these guys have been around for a while, man, like they'll tell you, getting to the big leagues isn't the hard part as staying at the big league level. Because once these [pitchers] start to figure you out, it's very difficult to continue to flip the script and prove that you can stay.

“So Walker did have a little bit of success when he first came up here, and once they know how to pitch you, they just double down on that until you prove that you can combat it, and he hasn't shown the ability to do that yet.

“So I feel like there's enough talent there where I'm nowhere close to giving up on Jordan Walker".

Gee, some on here have been saying this since the [redacted] on CT have claimed the Cards ruined him.

For sure.
None of these clowns have improved this team.
I think the entire coaching staff should be [shirt] canned.

If the team was not so desperate for goofy giveaway items maybe you don't give a guy a bobblehead day and then expect him to be humble and receptive to advice after that. After a few looks pitchers also adjust and apparently better than Walker.

Nope

And I've been right there w/you.

Jordan seems to be hard headed and not very coachable.

Got by on raw talent vs lesser competition until he hit MLB.

After that rookie season of success, before pitchers found his weaknesses, he's been a total bust.

Unless he comes to STing open to coaching, his time here is limited since C. Bloom has no investment in him.

On the contrary, Jordan Walker is highly intelligent.
How the [fork] do you know?
Walker has maintained a 3.98 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at Duke University, but is projected as an early round selection in June’s Major League Baseball draft. A member of the National Honor Society, Walker has donated his time as a peer tutor and has volunteered as a youth baseball coach.

Perhaps public critique is not appropriate but if you watched Walker’s at bats against Cincy on Sunday and Oakland on Monday it is clear he lacks focus at the plate - 6ks in 8 ABs and this epitomizes his approach this season.

Unless he has an issue with his vision he struggles to make adjustments and his body language at times seems to indicate a lack of effort or focus - he has talent but he may never reach his potential as a Cardinal- change of scenery perhaps.

If he was smart, he would have gone to Duke.
And sparred us watching his immense talent.

Brant Brown's job is on the line, too. If Walker isn't doing his part, why should Brown be fired for it?

On the other hand, if it is not true, then Brown's job should be on the line.

I have encountered several people in my long lifetime who are 'smart' meaning intelligent but who displayed stubbornness . They thought they always knew what was best for themselves . He may be that type.

You're right. Basil doesn't know.

Now respond to all the people saying he's dumb/stupid.

Being highly educated doesn’t guarantee real world smarts. Walker looks like a deer in the headlights on the field and he was that same no confidence doe eyed kid when I met him.

I wouldn't disagree with this.

I'd imagine he is shell-shocked right now. He is lost. His whole life, he has probably been able to figure it out, adjust, and excel. This is do-or-die, sink-or-swim time for him. He either makes the proper adjustments and grows, or he will be a better version of Paul Coleman, Jim Lindeman, etc.
