Most distinguished Cardinal to wear No. 7 is Hall of Famer Joe Medwick 1933-1940 who batted .333

Reggie Smith also plus Bill White when he returned to Cardinals

I saw Reggie Smith play. Never saw White or Medwick. Reggie Smith's stats would make him the best player on the 2025 Cardinals if he was still playing. I never understood why the Cardinals traded him.

yup
also loved that he was a switch hitter, like quite a few in those Cardinal days

I too saw Reggie Smith play and, like you, didn't understand why such a good player was traded for Joe Ferguson and scraps.

There would be more world series banners at Busch Stadium if the Cardinals had kept their best players. Imagine if the 549 major league wins of Reuss and Carlton were all with the Cardinals.

No kidding. The Cardinals didn't lack in developing players with talent. They traded them away by being cheap and petty.
