I'm not endorsing the idea. I just don't think North Carolina would be a good addition in a conference where football is king.edwin drood wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 21:38 pmThere are enough Texas schools as it is.icon wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 21:32 pmNo kidding. Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
NC looks like New England did when BB left.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
48-14. Can't remember the last solid tackle by North Carolina. Maybe North Carolina should join a flag football league.

Belichek won 2 super bowl rings without Brady. Even though they're on the road, TCU is favored by 3.5 pts.
I'll go with UNC by 3.
Go, Horned Frogs.
Belichick's NFL coaching record is 249-75 (.769) with Tom Brady, including six Super Bowl wins, and 84-103 (.449) without him, 0 rings.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
C'mon, you can't really count 2 SBs as a DC. He has 6 as the HC of the Patriots. And 0 as HC of the Patriots without Brady.rezero wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 22:34 pmBelichek won 2 super bowl rings without Brady. Then call the doctor because I'm a believer. UNC is absolutely a school high on the list for future SEC expansion. Virginia is another. Expansion targets are much more about potential viewers than football quality and the research triangle and northern VA are prime territory, rich, fast growing, and sports obsessed. Clemson and FSU might boost league quality in football but their fan bases are already in the SEC footprint.Anyone thinking UNC is the correct pick for SEC expansion needs their head examined.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
Your thinking is flawed - UVa is NOT a football school, as UNC is NOT a football school. You should travel to those areas and you will quickly discover this marketing fact. If the SEC wanted to go out on a limb, then pick Mia. Otherwise, from the ACC Clemson, FSU, NCState, and Pitt would be better choices for SEC expansion. Schools like Kansas and UNC should be avoided for a whole host of practical reasons.jcgmoi wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 08:11 amThen call the doctor because I'm a believer. Why did you ignore what I wrote that "Expansion targets are much more about potential viewers than football quality"?
It's the eyeballs that matter.
It's the eyeballs that matter.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
You just want two more pushovers in football for UGA to murder. Virginia and North Carolina should be in a flag football league. Not the SEC. Quality does matter. You want competitive teams for the SEC.
Those eyeballs you're talking about won't care to be watching North Carolina or Virginia get murdered by UGA. They are not worthy.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
There are other sports than football and there are sports fans who watch them too.
Virginia and North Carolina don't have any trouble excelling at sports. Check out where they rank in the Learfield Cup. Here's a preview--they're each ahead of most SEC teams, including one near and dear to your heart.
I'm not advocating for conference expansion. 16 teams is already too many in my view. But I know I'm in the minority and the push is for more not less.
Eyeballs absolutely matter. If you're selling you go where the customers are. I don't understand how that's even in doubt. FSU and Clemson are already in the fold. The triangle and NoVa are ripe for expansion.

Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
News Flash: Bill Belichick's 24 year-old girl friend just entered the transfer postal after last night's loss.

Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
The Learfield Cup? You're a barrel of laughs. Nobody cares. Football is king in the SEC, and those two schools absolutely suck at football. Nobody wants to watch those two getting murdered in football every weekend. Did you watch TCU just destroy North Carolina last night?jcgmoi wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 10:48 am There are other sports than football and there are sports fans who watch them too.

Yeah, they'd be fine in basketball, but that's not where the big money is. And as for the other sports, there is no money relatively speaking. Football pays the way for a lot of those other sports. Get real.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
Laird Veatch can tell you about the Learfield Cup.
Ask yourself this: Was Missouri invited to join the SEC because of the sustained excellence of its football team or because their admission would open two new markets in KC and StL?

Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
I'll be tracking the closely watched Learfield Cup competition on the edge of my seat. Should be very exciting. Along with badminton.
Re: North Carolina hosting TCU
So ragging on the Learfield Cup is all you got. I guess that's easier than admitting you're wrong when you dismiss UNC and UVA as big gets for any conference.
