I sorely disappointed with his hitting. I was hoping for at least .250 with double digit Hr's and he's been pretty bland. He has all the tools but he's just not using them. Can coaching help? I don't know, is he even coachable? Did he hit like this in the minors? None of the Cards outfielders are doing the job. Noot, Scott and Walker are very poor this year. Scott should be hitting down on the ball and using his speed. Noot has shown flashes of promise but at this point he's more of a 4th outfielder I think. And Walker, well, he needs to go back down and prove himself. Can Whetherholt play outfield?

Give M. Holliday what ever he wants to coach this kid over the off season, if that door work time to give up on him

Had a good season at AA in 22, followed it up with an even better Fall League that year, and after the fan discontent at Mo's offseason thrift isle shopping, he was rushed to MLB after a decent 3 weeks of Spring Training in 23 to distract the fans with a shiny new toy. Started off great, finished the season strong, and it's all been downhill from there. Whatever THIS org is teaching him, it's either not sticking or not working.

He can't go down again this year without being DFA'd--so I've been told. Hopefully they start him at AAA next year with a new personal hitting coach or something and he stays there until he dominates and figures out how to recognize a pitch and for the love of God, move at least 6 inches closer to the plate.

I believe he has one more option year left. I think you gotta keep him up the rest of this year. Start him as much as possible.

Then make him make the team next year out of the spring. Start him in the minors if you have to and keep him there until he hits his way back to MLB. Last chance.

I don't think we did him any favors with how we brought him along, but now we have to deal with it. And it's not good.

Or move him for an equally young SP that needs a change of scenery. They are out there

+1 although I don’t think he should make the team out of spring training no matter how well he hits

What you state is the correct course of action. Trading him at an all time low is not ideal, to say the least. Put him in the minors and even if they don’t promote him back to the majors, a good showing down there might make another team consider taking a chance on him and giving something of value in return.

You can see the power is there. He has a great arm. But he's not playing better than the sum of his parts. For his size there's way too much weak contact. I can see why they wanted to change his launch angle. I think he never bought into the launch angle approach and was caught in between. Halfheartedly try to elevate but not really devoted to it. Now he's in limbo at the plate. He needs to understand that pitchers aren't afraid of giving up singles to him. They fear the long ball. I believe he has 30 homerun power at the least but he has to try to develop his homerun swing and I think he's not at the low enough point to do it. He may be uncoachable in that regard. If so, he'll have to be traded.

His K-rate in this league year over year:

2023: 22.4%
2024: 28.1%
2025: 31.7%

Those numbers are not supposed to go that direction in a young player's first 3 years, that is if he's any decent type of hitter. He needs to figure out how to pick up spin on a baseball before he starts worrying about hitting homeruns.

Is/was my favorite player. Saw so much potential. Honestly hurts me that a talented player like Walker is headed down sentimental street.
