Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
The team is lower in many of the hitting stats from 2024.
The young players haven't made any remarkable gains.
Hell, if anything they've sort of declined.
Seems to me the entire coaching staff should be replaced.
Lord knows, Dusty Blake should have been gone in 2024.
Check out the team hitting and pitching stats.
If we get these clowns again in 2026, there should be a revolt.

I totally agree and hope Bloom agrees and sacks all 3 of them.Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 05:13 am The team is lower in many of the hitting stats from 2024.

It’s time for this organization to do a deep enema flush.

Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
The pitching is obvious. Marmol has no idea what he is doing. Locked into a pitch count regardless of what is happening. The next manager needs to be a former player who understands the game of baseball. Preferably a former catcher or pitcher.
Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
Regarding the hitting coach. How many hitting coaches has this group had while in St Louis? Maybe it’s the hitters not the coaches?Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 05:13 am The team is lower in many of the hitting stats from 2024.

I'm not disputing what you say, but I do want a clean slate in 2026.Jatalk wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 amRegarding the hitting coach. How many hitting coaches has this group had while in St Louis? That would be my preference anyway.
Jason Varitek is my hope.
It may be a lost cause with the players we have though.

He inherited one of the biggest messes in Cardinal history.
Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
I would support wholesale change like you. I was on fence with Oli but i can’t really make an argument to keep him. And longer season goes I have a lot of questions on how he handles pitching. Bottom line he does not have the experience needed for this mess.Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:55 amI'm not disputing what you say, but I do want a clean slate in 2026.Jatalk wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 amRegarding the hitting coach. Hard to say which manager would be best suited for this job.Jatalk wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 08:01 amI would support wholesale change like you. Are there really any good ones available?
I think Varitek would be a solid choice, but he lacks experience too.
Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
Jason Varitek currently serves as the Boston Red Sox's game-planning and run prevention coach, a role he assumed in the 2025 season after previously being a game-planning coordinator and catching coach. In this new position, he focuses on broader aspects of day-to-day team operations and works closely with manager Alex Cora, in addition to providing input in pregame pitching meetings.

Nah, too many guys who were traded before they put in too much time in STL turned out to hit well.Jatalk wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 amRegarding the hitting coach. Even if you're right, the hitting coaches are clearly not helping. If they are not part of the solution, we need to find someone who is.

Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
Unfortunately, with Mo having dipped into the rookie manager pool the last 3 times, I almost feel like they need an experienced manager to sort of right the ship. I think fans would have enthusiasm for a Yadi or Albert in the dugout, but can you legitimately go with 4 rookie managers in a row? I think they really need experience not only at the manager level, but the pitching coach and hitting coach as well.
Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
It's time to clean house at the field managing level. The manager and all his coaches need to be gone. And the new manager needs to have a big hand and choosing his own staff.

Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
If Oli is back in 2026 this team will not even sell out opening day. If they hit on a new manager this offseason i guarantee the fans will come back.Bully4you wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 05:13 am The team is lower in many of the hitting stats from 2024.

It won’t take a $30000000000000000000 offseason to bring the fans back. Just a little reassurance from the FO that they too…….have had it with the Mo era

Re: Brant Brown, Dusty Blake, Oli Marmol.
While not a fan of those three coaches, you are 100% correct that at some point it has to fall on the players. If we only keep one, I’d hope it’s Brown. His simplistic approach seems at least a better approach than the overly analytical aspects of his predecessors.Jatalk wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 amRegarding the hitting coach. This data-driven era that has supposedly revolutionized the game has created more mediocrity and a boring brand of baseball. It has eliminated half the action that made it the great sport it has been for well over a century.
And no, this is not an old man nostalgic rant. I’m apparently one of the younger posters here.
