The manager doesn't matter until he has the players to win

Reds spend little money, can't expect miracles.
+4 game improvement to date after being 6 games over .500 (and a +10 games better at that point than in 2024) before 2 - 8 in their last 10 GP.
Tito is a vastly superior manager to Oli.

There is a direct correlation between how good a manager is and how good his players are

Casey Stengel was a freaking genius with the Yankees. With the Dodgers, Braves, and Mets, not so much.RipRipulski wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025 11:02 am There is a direct correlation between how good a manager is and how good his players are

ONLY the "BFIB" would bad mouth the team and the manager when the win. The guy who said Oli doesn't make pitching decisions is nuts. I'd like to know where he gets his inside information.

When DeWitt fired Matheny who never had a losing season the reason was winning wasn't good enough. We needed to be in the world series.
Now with a last place finish and a losing record if we are almost as good as Cincinnati it's good enough to keep the manager? Standards lowered.

True. Also may be thinking they are sticking it to the people who don't like the Oli man.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025 22:43 pm Anyone who thinks Marmol is a better manager than Francona is either lying to themselves or a complete idiot.

Yea it went from firing Matheny and saying just winning isn’t good enough to firing Shildt and saying winning isn’t the only thing to extending oli and saying we don’t want him to feel any pressure to win definite lowering of standardsScotchMIrish wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025 12:26 pm When DeWitt fired Matheny who never had a losing season the reason was winning wasn't good enough. Shildt reportedly fired himself by going on a local radio show and saying he did as good as could be expected considering the lack of talent.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025 12:34 pmYea it went from firing Matheny and saying just winning isn’t good enough to firing Shildt and saying winning isn’t the only thing to extending oli and saying we don’t want him to feel any pressure to win definite lowering of standardsScotchMIrish wrote: ↑31 Aug 2025 12:26 pm When DeWitt fired Matheny who never had a losing season the reason was winning wasn't good enough.
