Auburn looks like 1980 Cornhuskers....or at least a lesser version

Post by rezero »

Watching the Auburn game and not sure I have seen a team with this many run plays since probably the Georgia Tech team from 5 years ago. I think they ran the ball 10 times in a row at one point. I was one of the posters not happy about all the hits or QB took in the first game, but Auburn is using designed QB run after run. They will go over 50 carries and 300+ yds on the ground and probably less than 100yds through the air. Baylor is hanging with them but simply overmatched in the trenches.

I saw several designed pass plays where Arnold took one quick look at a receiver and then took off running. Auburn is going to need a passing game in the SEC. And Arnold still has a lot to prove in that area, but he has talent in the receiving corps, so he will be out of excuses if he can't execute the passing game. We shall see. Also, he had a ridiculous fumble that could've gone for 6 the other way. Just like against Missouri last year.

I toggled between Auburn/Baylor and GTech/Colorado last night and Tech is still a run-heavy team. They wore out the Buffs with over 300 yards and QB Haynes King got the bulk of those in 19 carries.

I was doing the same. That Buffs QB was abysmal down the stretch. He overthrew two easy passes to wide open RBs.
