Why bring the infield in? It never works!

It is a risk you take .. by playing back a slow or medium grounder right at an infielder has you conceding the lead run scoring . So you take a shot that a grounder may be hit right at one of the infielders. Would not say it never works .

Listen with 0 outs the odds the reds don’t drive the run in is very low. I’d much rather concede the run than let a would be 6-3 become a hit

Usually that's true especially if it is in the 1st inning, 2nd you concede the run for you have a lot of the game left.
When it's tied later in the game, the strategy changes some as there are not many innings left. So that factors into the decision. Nothing wrong with your strategy either .
