I want Jimmy 'The Cat' Hayes back along with Alexa , and Sweeny too. Throw in Al H. too with Scott W. filling in .

Datt is fine to look at but not hit very well.

Re: Who do we want back for next year?
It's puzzling just to think of all the different possibilities you can have based on where the following players might play: Wetherholt, Gorman, Burleson, Herrera, Donovan.
You could convince both Arenado and Contreras to waive their NTC. It's still a puzzle. Whose your longterm 1B. Who plays 2B, 3B.
I wonder if Bloom is just as bipolar as Cards Talk is on some of these guys (Gorman for example). Probably not. He probably has ideas of how he wants all these pieces to fit. I guess this offseason will tell us a lot about how he sees the team. Even if 2026 is still seen as a rebuilding year, I think he would want to have as many longterm pieces nailed down as he can, at the position he thinks they'll play longterm. You want to start envisioning a core.

Re: Who do we want back for next year?
I guess that's how I'd go to start out, if I could somehow magically get Contreras and Arenado out of the picture. If Herrera absolutely sucks in the outfield, you'd have to have him at 1B/DH. Would you rather have Burleson in LF?
You could have Gorman spot start at all 3 of 1B, 2B, and 3B and have a rotating DH that way.
Nootbaar can receive a knee directly to his rear
Re: Who do we want back for next year?
Wetherholt 3B, Winn SS, Saggese 2B, Burleson 1B, Crooks C, Herrera DH, Walker RF, Scott CF. Try to get a very productive bat in LF and a couple solid starting pitchers for Donovan, Nootbaar, Contreras, Gorman and Arenado.
Re: Who do we want back for next year?
with Burley's wrist being compromised, his prime is over...his counting stats regressed this year over last year. I would try to trade him to the Bananas for a pair of stilts
Note ~ I only use the Counting Stats b/c that's the Goal Post that someone uses.

You are looney. Stick to reporting minor league games and starting lineups.

Wouldn't you be better off taking advantage of Donovan's defense by having him moving 1, 2, 3, LF and leaving Gorman at one spot (hopefully 3rd or DH). Seems to me you'd have the same offense but better defense.imadangman wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025 13:33 pmI guess that's how I'd go to start out, if I could somehow magically get Contreras and Arenado out of the picture. Re: Who do we want back for next year?
Just a minute ago I was looking at defensive stats. Based on range and fielding%, it looks like Donovan is about the same at 2B or 3B whereas Gorman is clearly better at 2B. Gorman has always passed the eye test to me at 2B too. I'm onboard with Donovan being much better in the infield.HorseTrader wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025 14:25 pmWouldn't you be better off taking advantage of Donovan's defense by having him moving 1, 2, 3, LF and leaving Gorman at one spot (hopefully 3rd or DH). Maybe having Wetherholt try CF would solve the most problems. Afterall, doesn't it seem like an everyday CF is pretty valuable. You can platoon the corner spots alot easier than you can CF.
C Crooks
1B Contreras
2B Gorman
SS Winn
3B Donovan
RF Walker
CF Wetherholt
LF Herrera/Burleson
DH Burleson/Herrera
Bench includes Saggese, Church, Prieto/Fermin etc
Must rid Arenado at all costs. Give him back to Colorado for all I care.
