So why would the Phillies at that time have more appeal than the Cardinals speaking of reality?ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 17:03 pmFirst, how do you fix it now?11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:37 pmActually I have included signing Harper on several threads such as these for the last several seasons sorry you missed it.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:29 pmOK. So signing Harper is your answer. Only two problems:11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:13 pmMy response was "years ago" and gave such an example in this thread.ClassicO wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 16:09 pmHilarious. And Trump was going to end the Ukraine war in one day.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:52 amI could have fixed it years ago.Melville wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:51 amI could fix this roster in less than 30 days.11WSChamps wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 08:49 am For those who feel the need to defend this spiral that's led to this hard not to admit what the ballclub has become.
And people actually believe this team can compete for the division next season.
Just brutal.
Any competent person could.
I don't see any posts from either of you over the past 60 days that suggest such a "fix."
In the absence of both of you pointing them out -- or even making your "fix" recommendations now -- I'll consider these posts as a joke.
1) You realize that Harper had to agree? Minor point. He said no to the Dodgers and Cubs, but I'm sure you could have convinced him.

2) You had to convince BDW to sign him to the 13-year contract - the largest in MLB history at the time.
And it's a big jump to say that IF they did that, they would not have made the Ozuna trade.
PS - "Years ago" is convenient. In the past few years, you didn't mention it again?
As for the hypothetical the question was what I would do.
Not what I would do if I had to work under DeWitt. If you're going to restrict on one hand then you have to give some latitude on the other.
Why would they have to make the Ozuna trade?
The MOB would already be here.
Not to mention they wouldn't have had to go out and get stiffs like Mikolas, Lynn, Gibson, etc with Alcantra and Gallen having cost controlled years.
Second, welcome to reality. The Harper deal wasn't a reality for the Cards. And repeating it doesn't make it a reality.
Third, everyone regrets the Ozuna trade in 2019, but you can't convince us you were outspoken against it at the time. Guess who was the top prospect the Cards gave up for him?
How do you know what I said here 6 years ago? If we had Harper l wouldn't need to sign off on such a trade.
You seem to be stuck on not understanding that for some reason.
And I never said anything about fixing it now that was another poster remember?
That's why I said in another thread that was on the same page it will be years before the team is relevant.
