No doubt Wetherholt has the athleticism to play CF. Other teams have shifted gifted athletes from infield to CF. ex. Mickey Mantle was a shortstop that moved to CF.
Would love to see JJ in left field all season and Burly traded for pitching in June.
Two horrible ideas. If Gorman can cut down on the Ks, Gorman at 3B, Donovan 2B, Saggese utility, Burleson LF or 1B (if Contreras can be traded), Wetherholt CF. Trade Nootbaar for pitching help.
Gorman has struggled to make accurate throws to 1B. If Nado is trade and the cards go with Gorman at 3B, I hope his throws to 1B can be fixed. Right now I see him more as a DH or traded.
If Arenado is traded. Saggese very well factor into the starting infield competition in '26. He's getting valuable experience this season

Be more fun to have Bernal catching in tomorrow's lineup. But he likely will not be ready till 27. He is going to be good if they don't rush him.

While Arenado is out they might as well just call up Jesus Baez to play at 3B tomorrow. Even if just for one game. That way they'll have a really good idea if he can handle the position 3-4 years from now.

Mickey Mantle did start his minor league career as a shortstop, but was moved to the outfield because he was such a defensive liability at short. Never played any substantial, or quality play at SS.

On the other hand, Most players, if good at 2b, 3b, or SS have little difficulty in switching to the OF.
