We could learn something here from Vito Corleone.

Forget the cameras.
A pack of German shepherds would be a lot cheaper.

I remember fans tearing down the goalposts after the Tigers trounced USC on the road in 1976. Took them down to Harpo's, of course.
The power of a drunken crowd was on full display as fans broke down a metal gate and stormed the field. I was there as a spectator. A joyous one.
But what a disappointing season after that 46-25 blowout of USC. Talk about ups and downs. Also beat OSU in Columbus and Nebraska in Lincoln, but got blown out at home by Illinois, Iowa State and the Jayturds. Ended up 6-5.
But that was a very tough schedule. Not one cream puff. The 4th OOC game was against NC.

Why the SEC cares is beyond me. When was the last time someone was killed during one of these things?
I say let the fans celebrate like it's 1999.
Wins were few and far between then.

Yeah if Alabama is top 2 or 3 and we knock them off, there’ll be fans all over that field and goal post coming down and on its way to Harpos. As it should be.

I've watched a few "field rushes" from the stands. Got a better view up there & much safer. Half a mill is a lot of $ for 15 minutes of "fame".

For some reason my memory (it was during my time at Mizzou) was the students tore down the goalposts after the Alabama game in 1975.
Alabama fans will remember the 1975 opener, a 20-7 loss to Missouri at Legion Field. It was the Crimson Tide’s only loss that season.
That was a Monday night game. Is my memory faulty, didn’t the goalposts make a trip to Harpos that night too?.
But yes, the also did it after the USC game the following year (SoCal, not SoCar).

It isn’t cheap to replace them (goalposts) but serve alcohol and let fans storm the field? Not a great idea.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑27 Aug 2025 18:13 pm Why the SEC cares is beyond me. When was the last time someone was killed during one of these things?

Looking at our schedule, the only team who'd even be worth rushing the field for would be Alabama. Rushing the field after beating Kansas would be an embarrassment. You know what they say about the quietist guy in the room...

This is true, and it’ll depend on Alabama’s ranking and record. If they come in undefeated, they will surely be ranked near the top and have some fantastic wins including Georgia. If they come in with a couple losses and ranked 15, no way we rush the field.
Yes, no way with Kansas. That said, KU looks to be pretty darn good and that is going to be a very important must win matchup for MANY reasons.

Tides took a turn for the worse when, in 2005, a University of Minnesota-Morris student died from head trauma when a goal post fell on him while rushing the field. Why the SEC cares is beyond me. When was the last time someone was killed during one of these things?

How many players have died since then? How many climbers on Mt. Everest? How many people from fireworks on the 4th?
We lose more people than that everyday on the highways, in showers, watching NFL games on TV. I'll bet more people die playing golf every week than that.
If we're gonna make a fuss over a guy getting clonked by a goal post, shouldn't we also ban frozen hamburgers because some guy killed himself trying to pry two frozen burgers apart with a butcher knife?
The world is not a 100% safe place. And it will never be a 100% safe place.
I rushed the goal posts and helped tear them down when I was in school. I guess there was a small risk, but I wasn't killed or injured. I'll never forget the thrill though, kind'a like sex which kills a few people too.
Maybe the SEC will ban that?

Haven’t you ever seen a flag thrown for backfield in motion?Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑28 Aug 2025 12:38 pmI'll never forget the thrill though, kind'a like sex which kills a few people too.
