GDT: Central Arkansas @ Missouri -- 6:30 SECN
Are you ready for some football? I am. And for this first game, of course, we'll all be watching how Pribula and Horn perform.
But I'm also very interested to see how Ahmad Hardy looks at TB. And how the new OLine gels with 3 new pieces and Green now at LT. As always, the trenches on both sides of the ball will be critical.
So edge rushers will be in the spotlight as well, not that the DTs aren't important as well. But pressure on QB will help the secondary, which had too many lapses in coverage last year that led to big plays. Promising edge rushers include Young, Wilson as starters and Johnson, Smith and Kitchen as backups. We shall see.
And the Tigers have 3 new starting receivers in addition to the now veteran Norfleet at TE. Big things are expected out of Coleman, the transfer from MSU. Johnson with his blazing speed returns, and Manning is returning as well. Olugbode, Loyd and Blood will be next in line.
The secondary features lots of experience with Pride backed up by Hall and Norwood backed up by DeLoach at CB and Catalon backed by Banner at SS and Burks backed by the impressive Greco at FS with Carnell backed by Flagg at the STAR position.
Starting LBs will be the experienced Newson at WLB and Trotter at MLB backed up by the impressive Jacobs.
Experience is back at DT with McClellan and Gracial backed by Henderson and Webb.
I'm expecting big things from Blake Craig as PK, though I hope settling for long FG attempts won't be happening as much as last year.
The game is a sellout. That never used to happen with the likes of Central Arkansas the opponent. The buzz is amazing. We shall see whether this year's team can live up to it soon enough.
I want to see disciplined football with no careless TOs or personal fouls and unspsortsmanlike flags along with an OLine that doesn't false start or hold too often. Can't be behind the sticks too much, though it may not matter much in this game. It's still important to look sharp to get ready for the bigger games.
Go, Tigers!

Never? It happened last year. The game is a sellout. That never used to happen with the likes of Central Arkansas the opponent.
"The 11th-ranked University of Missouri football team shut out Murray State in the season opener for both teams, cruising to a 51-0 victory in front of a sold-out crowd of 62,621 fans at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium."

Couple of freshmen I'd like to see tonight:
RB #7 Marquis Davis from Cleveland. Last 2 years of HS ran for 3800 yards and 58; touchdowns. In camp it was said it took 2 or more to take him down
WR #1 Donovan Olugbode from Chicago via The IMG Academy in Florida. Averaged just under 16 yards per catch in HS, made a big impression im camp.

All eyes will be on Sam and Beau.

While I am predicting a 38-0 shutout, my biggest hope is we get out of the game with a win and no injuries.
Re: GDT: Central Arkansas @ Missouri -- 6:30 SECN
I would love to see on the first play a 75yd bomb to Olugie to get the “one dimensional” QB label off Beau on the first play and pull the freshman into the fan base spotlight.edwin drood wrote: ↑28 Aug 2025 09:25 am

Nice TD throw! Great to see a bomb not overthrown.

Throw that 2-point conversion play away.
